Hi Goldy, how long did it take for your cat’s stomatitis to get better after her teeth were extracted?

Hi Carolina, what was the medication that helped your cat’s stomatitis?

Since they have not answered you, perhaps you should send them a private message.
That way they will be sure to see it.

Yes, I did PM both of them but never heard back from them. I was told by someone on the site that Carolina is out of town. I wish I could find out some other way what was the medication that helped her cat!! My cat is in pain, I feel bad for her!

Hello...although this post was not for us. We recently had our 5 1/2 year old cat's teeth extracted on January 16,2013 She had all teeth extracted except for her canines. We were so afraid to have this done, because of the pain afterwards. And we put it off for so long because of our fears. To our surprise the day after her extractions she came home and she was playing, kissing, cuddling, trying to eat dry food and the only reason we didn't let her eat it is because the vet said no dry food for 5-7 days after her surgery. But she had no problem eating canned food and lunchmeat (ham). Today she is happier than she has ever been. She plays, carries her toys in her mouth, she cleans, has a great appetite. Everything a cat with all their teeth can do,she can do.

As for the meds you are talking about. Not sure which you are referring to.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck with your kitty....

Feel free to ask any questions you may have!

I read your other post. You are looking to see what meds help with pain from stomatitis.

Our cat Gabanna (who had her teeth extracted because of stomatitis) was getting depo injections every 4-6 weeks. But in between the vet would give us prednisone tablets.

I asked Carolina about what medication helped get rid of her cat's stomatitis, I wasn't referring to pain medication, but thank you for your response! My cat had all her teeth extracted 2 years ago and she was fine, but recently out of the blue she got inflammation on the roof of her mouth, so our vet gave her steroid shots but it didn't help at all. Then he extracted 5 roots that were still in her mouth, which was 3 weeks ago but the inflammation hasn't improved at all either. When I found an old post by Carolina about some medication that helped get rid of her cat's stomatitis, I contacted the place she went to, Dallas Dental Service Animal Clinic, but the number seems to be disconnected or something, just my luck!!! And Carolina is out of town right now, just my luck again!!! I don't know what else to do for my cat!

Oh my goodness,we sure hope you find some relief for your cat. Sounds uncomfortable for sure. Maybe try calling somewhere else if you can't get in touch with the place you are trying to. Maybe somewhere else that specializes in dental for cats.

Good Luck.

We will keep your kitty in our prayers. We sure hope things get better.

Thank you for the link, Mrs. Green Jeans! Carolina did get back to me, which I really appreciated especially since she's out of the country. She gave me the info, which I'm sharing here for anyone who has a cat experiencing stomatitis. My vet said he's willing to work with them to get the medication formula, so hopefully it'll work as well on my cat as it did on Carolina's cat.

My 3 year old Maine Coon has mild Stomatitis at this point. I bought a product on Amazon called Plaque Zapper. Just started using it so can't yet comment on the effectiveness, but the reviews were quite positive for removing plaque, bacteria , bad breath & gum inflammation. It comes in a powder form that you add to their water or food. Odorless, colorless & tasteless...they say. Cats are hard to fool! It's for cats and dogs. It is a natural enzyme that increases the alkaline level in their mouth causing the plaque to just slide off of their teeth! Only been using it a few days and both cats won't touch the water, but the cat who needs it the most will eat it if I use warm water and make his dry food into a cereal, then add Plaque Zapper! I brush his teeth almost daily so hoping this regiment will help! I know I am a rookie at this so far compared to most on this site.. I really don't want to have to take him in for yearly descaling! Too many health risks! wondered if anyone else has used this product and what their results were?

Another person posted that their beloved cat passed away after having their teeth cleaned. There is always risk associated with Anesthetizing an animal or human. I think this is why we have to sign a waiver at the Vet's office prior to this type of procedure being done. It's also a lot of stress on the cat and the pocket book in some cases. It's my understanding that risks associated with Plaque Zapper are minimal. It's made from natural enzymes!

Hi Carolina, how long did it take for Bugsy to start showing signs of improvement from the liquid meds that you got from Veterinarians Dental? I've been giving our cat that medication for a week now, still no improvement.

I know this is an old thread but I use Plaque Off For Cats I order on Amazon. It is a powder so you can mix it with food. Even my cat who will never touch food I have mixed medication into will it it.It is only available from the UK right now bt I had read about it on a few blogs. It has been 3 months and it does help. One of my cats is as I write this having a full mouth extraction ( I haven't had him long and didn't realize he even had Stomatitis). It comes in a tub and lasts for abut 3 months ( I have 3 cats) I imagine if you only have 1 cat it would last a year.If you order it from Amazon be careful to order the formula for cats and not the one for cats and Dogs or the one for dogs. I have heard from people who order the Cat and Dog formula and their cats won't touch it. I am relieved it is helping. I could never fool my cats with the stuff you have to pour in water.
