This year for Poppy's birthday I thought I'd get her some fresh, different meat from a butcher or gourmet market. I thought maybe pheasant or quail since those are different. But I don't know if she likes them. She does like duck. Can someone tell me if she might like the pheasant or quail based on that? Or if there are other suggestions, I'm open.

If Poppy likes mild meat, she'd like rabbit.  I don't eat meat myself, but I think quail is considered a mildly flavored meat.

If Poppy likes strongly flavored meat, you could try goose or duck (poultry); you could also try goat or venison
 .

I have thought of giving Ritz a special treat for her birthdays (one for when she was rescued from the streets, the second when I adopted her).  I gave her some fresh shrimp once and she didn't like it.  And this was a cat who would ONLY eat Fancy Feast Classic seafood before I switched her to raw.

Now I usually end up buying her a special toy---which she promptly ignores!

Sardines, especially if you can get them fresh, would be a nice treat.  Good type of oil in them too.

(If canned, packed in water, no salt added.)
