I have not been on the forum for months tending to my sick 16 y/o cat. Today, after multiple Vet visits, x-rays showed that my baby has fluid around the lungs, tumors in the lungs, and possibly a tumor on the heart.  The Vet gave her a month at the longest. I was told the fluids can be drained which would buy her maybe a few weeks. Aside from that, it is just hospice mode. :(

After the initial anger at the Vet for not catching this 6 months ago when she stopped eating, I checked on some holistic options such as distilled drinking water, fish oil supplement, and other things. Since the Vet gave up, I thought I would check to see if anyone had any suggestions.

Currently, I'm syringe feeding 4 times/day. The Vet has her on Prednisolone to buy her some time.

I am so sorry you are going through this.  I don't have any advice to offer, just sending some {{{Hugs}}} and good vibes your way.

I am so very very sorry. It is so hard sometimes when we open out hearts to pet companions knowing that their life spans are so much shorter than ours. So many vibes and well wishes for you and your baby. I have no suggestions for you other than maybe consulting with a holistic vet who may offer some different options.

That is so sad, I hope her last few precious weeks are pain free for her. I know they will not be for you, big cyber hugs being sent your way.

I wish I had any suggestions. I do send you hugs and prayers. My family and friends can't understand my dedication, concern, care, and love for each and everyone of my furrbabies. They are like my children, and dealing with a chronic and terminal kitty, I understand the pain and need to find every treatment option available. I pray you find something.

My deepest sympathies to you and your kitty.  Sadly, from what you describe the only thing you can do is palliative care, which you are already doing.  It is terrifying how quickly these things can progress, my own cat stopped eating well at the end of August and in September he was diagnosed with carcinoma of the intestines that had metastasised to the liver.  Two weeks after diagnosis I made the choice to let him go while he was still happy(ish).  He didn't want his last dinner though, ribeye steak, cool ranch Doritos and a snickers bar.  Well, he nibbled the snickers bar at least.  All I could think was that it wasn't fair, why didn't we catch it sooner, and we that hadn't had enough time together.

I can't imagine how you're feeling now, but you've got our collective shoulders to cry on, and we'll cry with you.  Much love, to you and yours.

I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions...just love and cheese danish.  Meaning spoil her rotten during the time she has left.

Did the Vet tell you what signs to look for to know when she is getting too uncomfortable or having pain?  I know it's hard to  let go, but please don't let her suffer.  With this type of issue, her breathing will probably become labored, and she may start panicking at that time.  (and you will too
)   This would not be a good memory to have
.  When they are in the last stages, it's better to let them go early, than keep them with us too long and have them suffer at the end.   It's heartbreaking any way you look at it

I'm so sorry BOTH of you are having to go thru this, and as Imbri said, we'll be here for you when the time comes
