Hey there, my cat is almost 9 years old and has started picking at her back and licking continuously... is has developed into a large bald spot with some places drawing blood. I cannot afford to take her to the vet at this moment (college student) and it's obviously bothering her and I want to know if there are any remedies that may help soothe the itchiness or pain.. so that her fur can grow back and she will be healthy again. Other than that, she is a very healthy cat- not overweight or anything. Help?

Sorry your cat is having problems.

He may be allergic to a new food or fleas.  Or stressed out about something.  Which is why your cat needs to see a vet.

Here is a rather comprehensive (scientific) article about skin conditions.  That it is at the point it is bleeding is concerning; bacteria can get into any open wound no matter how small.  If you see puss or smell somthing foul, e-vet time.  Seriously.
