Dotty was an old family pet of mine until I was 10 (2003). She was an adorable black and white moggy with a black nose.

She aged suddenly when she was about 12/13 and her health deteriorated, my parents had her put down and I am still annoyed with them until this day! (I find the idea a bit deceptive, personally)

She was cremated and me and my dad went to see her in the chapel of rest, it was beautiful, Dotty was swaddled in a moses basket with white blankets and stuff. She was the only death I ever cried about, I've never cried over a human death!

I know she did not die recently, but she is the reason I am a total crazy cat lady to this day!

I know how you feel, I too have never cried for a human, all the human deaths I've attended were of old age and they were no longer wanting to go on. I hope that I will live a long life, and pray I go quietly in my sleep at home. I'm happy that you did see Dotty peaceful in the chapel. I'm also happy that you honor her by keeping her alive in your heart. My Chrissy was hit by a car in front of me,( I didn't know she was following me) and although I know I gave her 10 wonderful, happy years, I can't help but mourn the years that were to come. My heart is still full of guilt, I still cry when I think of the car hitting her. But a cat was never more loved then she. I am also a crazy cat lady and proud of it!

Dotty lives on in your love for cats, which is a tribute in itself.
