they start off from a cat scratch i been trimming there nails but it still persist she can't keep her eye open all the way its like it is in a pain a little maybe not in pain as the time i took her in for an eye and it was a cat scratch it was way worst then 5 yrs ago i think it was last month or 2 months ago that it got worst where she kept it close and kept pawing at it. but it isn't worst as today. are there signs i should be worried about i feel like it needs more testing but vet just says its infection and gives me this eye drop for infection last time it was pain +infection. Should i get a new kitty litter? what type of kitty litter should i get id on't think i get the one that clouds up though just wish i knew what kind of kitty litter is better its probably gettingin her eye i need something not so small i don't know if its a dusting kitty litter but its baking armor is that what its called?

Hi candie, does your kitties eye ever completely clear up ? And then the infection comes back? Did your vet see her for the current eye infection? You mentioned vet gave you medicine, be sure to use it for the exact number of days the vet tells you. As for kitty litter, I suggest you try SCOOP AWAY brand
I get it at Cosco , a 42 lb bag for less than $12 Do you have other cats? If so maybe your cats had a little fight and got scratched. It almost sounds like it is a viral infection as it keeps coming back, when did your vet diagnose ( recently?). I know this is ALOT of questions but I am just trying to understand what is going on.

well she went twice for eye infection i forgot when was it this yr and recently. My cats do fight but i have been trimming nails though. don't know if i trim them good enough. but i did put her eye medicine in and she keeps doing that thing where she spits it out. think she had some in her mouth dunno how long it will subside cause i put her medication in at 2 pm  and seh still doing that awful tasting thing :\ but the 2nd eye thing  i made sure none drip in her mouth. how long will the taste go away for her :( i had to give her fancy feast just once so she won't have that bitter awful taste in her mouth. but i don't think it was from a cat scratch this time just an infection can you tell me waht is a viral infection i'm planning to buy new cat box and cat litter tommarow and hope to get a good kind that doesn't seem dusty i would get a 42lb bag but i can't lift that much lol ^^;  so probably has to be not big bag.

if this is the viral infection how do i prevent it :(

Candie, I think you need to call your vet and have him check your cats file and ask what KIND of infection and why he gave you certain medicine ( vets usually pick a antibiotic that covers many types of infection). Do your other cats have eye problems or discharge? I suggest calling the vet for info so you don't get charged , but you may have to go back anyway. I think a cat that holds his eye closed and has discharge and sometimes swelling needs expert care , as the cat could end up blind or have really bad ulcers on the eyeball. You can find scoop away at a grocery store in a lighter amount so you can lift it (I know what you mean about lifting litter, it's so heavy) this cat site has some excellent info on CAT HEALTH. Go to the home page, or try articles and specify "eye infections" . Hope you get some help, good luck and keep us posted,

It sounds as if Feline herpes is a possibility - like human herpes the virus never goes away completely but lies dormant and comes back at times following injury or stress. Ask the vet what they think. I have a cat with it, and I, like a number of other members here, use L-lysine to keep it at bay. It is an immune system booster, and can be bought in tablet form or in fishy paste or gel especially for cats. But your vet should advise you on the type and dosage for your cat. You have to keep him on it, with a low maintenanec dose daily and increasing it if there is a flare-up. I find it works very well and my Wellington rarely gets a full-blown eye infection these days.
