Ok so my kitten needs to start litter training asap cause according to all the sites that I have been to on kitten development he should be introdused starting today (about 20 days aka about 3 weeks). I wanna know if my 24 pack of rootbeer box would be ok to use if I cut it down so he can get in and out.

He can start to be introduced as young as three weeks but it's still going to be awhile before he masters it. Most kittens don't start actively training to the box until they start on solids which is usually 4-5 weeks (because once they start on solids Mom will stop eliminating him. Until then she should still be doing it). Unfortunately, accidents are an inevitable part of litterbox training. If you can, keep Mom and baby confined to a smaller area to make clean up easier. You can even put puppy training pads down to help protect your floors.

As far as what to use for a box, most people either use high sided cookie sheets or else the cardboard boxes that canned kitten food comes in. You could try the root beer box with the sides cut down but I worry the cardboard is too thin and urine will soak through.

When starting litterbox training you only want to put in a small amount (so it's barely covering the bottom) of unclumping litter. You must use an unclumping formula as kittens test everything with their mouths and, if ingested, clumping litter expands and can cause a life threatening intestinal blockage. Also, set up multiple boxes so he always has one close by. When he has an accident pick it up and put it in the box so he will start to associate the smell with the litter. If it's urine you can soak it up with a paper towel and put it in there. You will also want to get a good enzyme remover (like Nature's Miracle) and need to throughly clean anywhere he has an accident so he doesn't continue to re-mark.

He is already confined into the smallest room in the house besides one in the basement but we are never letting our cats down there cause of all the laundery. We threw away the box automattically and we already have the right litter cause we already don't use clumping litter and we will try to get it my bf just started a new job.

If you have an old oven tray or turkey roaster that you don't use that would be fine too, and has the advantage of not being porous. I use puppy pads too, but htey are expensive. Pieces of old towels can be recycled as mats. Good luck that he catches on quickly - some kittens do, others take a bit of time.
