I've been talking to my parents for over two years about getting their cat off of 9 Lives/Kit & Kaboodle and their dog off of Dog Chow and Pedigree. I finally talked them into starting Pippin (their cat) on 4Health All Life Stages, and now they've also agreed to try 4Health Salmon and Potato for Bo (the dog, who has skin problems). I'm so excited! I know they'll never agree to put Pippin on a wet diet, but at least he's not eating pure corn anymore.

Hooray! My in-laws think I'm a little nuts about my cat, especially the raw feeding.

My parents still comment all the time on the money I spend on my cat. Sorry, I just don't like her using a mineral litter and licking off the dust, getting heartworms, needing steroid shots, getting urine crystals or diabetes, having flaky skin, having dirty ears...

Congratulations!    would be nice if you could get them to feed some wet even if it's the cheapest kind.  but at least feeding a better kibble that is higher in animal protein is certainly an improvement from flavored corn!

I know how you feel,  my dad's cat is obese from free feeding high carb dry food.    I at least did get him to feed more canned and he does see that it is more natural for cats to eat meat,   but he won't stop the dry because she begs for it and he gives in.  <sigh>  .

I buy quality wet food that's cheaper than Friskies, and they still complain. They don't even like bothering to wash the dog and cat bowls (like, EVER).  So yeah they won't do that.  And making $40 a week (yay for four years of higher education and almost no income), I can't afford to buy them any, though I'd like to. I was working 48 hours a week when I switched Astrid to all-wet. Now I can just barely afford her upkeep. My employee discount at a holistic pet food company helps, though.
