I mix one fried egg(without the oil) with my kitten food everyday

Is one egg in a day a lot to take for a cat? should I stop? how much should I feed him in a week?

No,you-should-not-give-them-eggs,I-asked-my-vet-one-time,and-it-was-just-about-licking-the-bowl,from-scrambling-them,so-hardly-any-at-all,she-said-I-would-rather-you-didn't.I-had-thought,it-might-be-good-for-their-coat.

You-also-have-to-look-at-what-your-frying-the-egg-in,as-they-are-eating-that-too,its-on-the-egg.You-should-not-give-them-butter-or-oil,unless-its-specific-pet-oil,and-you-know-why-your-giving-it,as-in,a-specific-medical-reason.

The-reason-you-can't-give-them-butter/oil,is-it-interfears-with-the-nutriants-being-absorbed-in-the-intestines.

If-you-don't-mind-me-asking,why,are-you-giving-the-kitten-a-fried-egg?

Kittens-have-very-very-sensative-little-systems,and-should-only-be-fed-kitten-food.

Good-question-tho,about-the-eggs,I-would-have-thought-it-would-be-good-for-their-coat-too,lol.You-should-never-give-kittens/cats-people-food,unless-on-instructions-by-a-vet-and-monetered-by-a-vet,for-a-specific-issue.

A lot of us raw feeders (in the US at least) do feed eggs, either raw egg yolks or the whole egg cooked. I would feed mine a raw egg yolk every day if she would eat it, but she'll only eat it sometimes. So, to mix it up, I scramble an egg in a tiny bit of butter with some ground dried shrimp in it to make it smell appetizing to her and can get her to eat some of it that way. I probably feed her 2-3 eggs a week.

Flint, did your vet say why she would prefer you didn't feed eggs? Was it because of the raw egg white portion (whole avidin issue)?

I don't think they are bad for them. But I wouldn't give them every day as they are rich.

Egg yolks are very nutritious. Raw or cooked, whatever your kitty prefers. If you feed the whites, they should be cooked. But I would say that one a day is a bit much for a kitten. 3 a week would probably be better. Maybe half an egg a day?

A half wouldn't be bad for a kitten as long as it doesn't spoil but I would do it like 2-3 x a week than every day personally. I know people who feed their dogs raw and feed raw eggs 2-3 x a week. They don't need them every day especially if you're feeding a high quality food.

When it comes to yolks, raw is probably best. But if you're going to cook it, any cooking method should be fine as long as your cat likes it.

Avidin is a protein in raw egg white that can interfere with Biotin (a B vitamin) absorption. Cooking inactivates that property of the avidin.

My cats get a raw egg yolk once a week, on Sunday. I use two eggs, split three ways. I put two yolks in a dish(separating out the white), weigh it and divide the weights by three, usually it ends up with each cat getting about .3 (three tenths) oz.

They like the egg yolk quite a bit, but won't eat more than that .3 oz at one time, that's how I settled on two eggs divided between three cats.

Since I've been doing this I've discovered that eggs do not all weigh the same! :lol3:

I also feed some commercial raw, Rad Cat, which contains egg yolk.

Thanks-for-the-info!

Maybe-it-was-the-raw-egg-white,that-she-was-concerned-about,being-scrambled,it-would-be-in-there,lol.Anyhow,I-don't-have-scrambled-eggs-that-often,and-I-scrape-the-bowl,such-as-my-mother-scraped-out-about-99%-of-the-cake-mix,into-the-pan,then-my-brother-and-I-fighting-over,licking-the-bowl,lol.
