some dry foods make cats drink more?

Hi everyone,

I noticed after I feed my cats with Felidae, they start to drink noticeably more. Could it be related to the food? If so, I would stick to this brand even though there are better brands.

What were they eating before? Anyway, all dry foods are. . .dry :tongue2:, so the more they drink, the better. Some prescription urinary formula dry foods add more salt to make the cat drink more, so maybe Felidae has more salt than what you were feeding them previously. I don't really think the increased water consumption has any renal benefits, as excess salt puts a strain on the kidneys, but it will keep the urinary system flushed out, at least.

Of course, the best way to increase a cat's water intake without adding salt is to feed more canned food. Having a water fountain helps some cats drink more, too.

I fed some brands before: nutrisource, purevita, pronature and this didn't happen. Do you see anything that resembles salt here:

Chicken meal, turkey meal, lamb, potatoes, potato protein, peas, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), natural flavor, fish meal, choline chloride, DL-methionine, taurine, suncured alfalfa meal, inulin (from chicory root), lecithin, sage extract, cranberries, beta-carotene, rosemary extract, sunflower oil, yucca schidigera extract, dried enterococcus faecium fermentation product, dried lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product, dried lactobacillus casei fermentation product, dried lactobacillus plantarum fermentation product, dried trichoderma longibrachiatum fermentation extract, zinc proteinate, vitamin E supplement, niacin, manganese proteinate, copper proteinate, zinc sulfate, manganese sulfate, copper sulfate, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin A supplement, biotin, potassium iodide, calcium pantothenate, riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), vitamin B12 supplement, manganous oxide, sodium selenite, vitamin D3 supplement, folic acid, papaya, pineapple.
