Hello fellow cat lovers,
Only found this site on Friday, (when Googling about cats in labour). Have had cats throughout my life (in my 50"s) the 1st was a kitten my mum got from a farm when I was in junior school, we had Frisky, a ginger Tom, for 15 years, had a couple of years without a cat then one day when at work, I could hear mieowing coming from within the walls of the building. Called the fire brigade and they rescued 2 young kittens from between the 2 layers of brickwork and then re-sealed the hole. Next morning I heard a distressing mieow and called the fire brigade again and they pulled out a little dusty ball of ginger fur, who I fell in love with. Took it home and called it Tigger. We were always under the impression that fingers were always males so we rang the vets to book "him" in to have him snipped. Dad took him to the surgery and came back and told us that Tigger in fact was a "she" and was being neutered. Tigger was a wonderful cat, and would let you do anything to her. I got married and went abroad as hubby was in the Army and was gutted when after 12 months of being away I received the news that Tigger had been killed by a hoodlum who had kicked her to death. I was gutted. Mum and Dad got themselves a new cat after a few months but it wasn't mine.
We couldn't really have cats what with moving about as often as we did, plus hubby wasn't that keen on them, he'd been brought with dogs. After he finished serving for 24 years, we brought Mum and Dad's house from them and after being here do about 18 months, hubby's youngest sister was emigrating to America and had 3 cats that needed re-homing, the 1 was too old to be moved from his local area, so was adopted by a neighbour and I was totally surprised when hubby suggested we have the other 2. So in 2002 we got Scully and Claude. Scully was an off spring of a feral cat that Mum in law had been feeding and Claude was a rescue kitten that sister in law adopted. We lost Claude in September last year, I found him dead in the garden. Claude was my little boy he would do anything for me. Then the week before Christmas, Scully went off her food and appeared to have a cold, and on the Friday, I came home from work, I gave her some cat milk and went in kitchen to start tea, youngest daughter came home from work and found Scully on the sofa, limp and her eyes we darting rapidly from side to side, we rushed her to the vets where we were told she had probably had a stroke. On considering her age(approx 19) and her condition( no response to pain to her back legs,) we made the hardest decision ever, and she went "Over the Rainbow" to meet back up with Claude. We decided that we would wait a while before looking at getting any new cats, but come February, hubby turned round and said he was missing having cats around the house. I was totally shocked at him saying this. So I began looking at websites for rescue cats for young kittens. After a couple of weeks I spotted an advert on our local RSPCA web page for a female ginger cat who was approx 8 months old that had been found, not chipped or neutered. She had been taken in by a lady the week before, who's other cat didn't like sharing his home. So after going to meet we brought her home with us.
We have named her Ginny after Ginny Weasley from Harry Potter because of her colouring, she has the same hair colour and is a wonderful kitten who is so playful.
Now after 3 weeks of Ginny being with us, we noticed that she was developing quite a podgy tummy, I took her to the vets and low and behold he said she was approx 6/7 weeks pregnant. That was a fortnight ago so we are now awaiting the imminent arrival of some babies in the house.
We are so excited and will be keeping one of the kittens for ourselves and have arranged several homes for the others. We shall be having Ginny neutered once the kittens have been weaned along with the kitten we keep.

That's my story so far and will keep you up to date with Ginny's story.
