Neutering and Vaccinations

Hi Everyone,

We have 2, 4 month old male kittens. They're due for their second round of kitten vaccinations and we were wondering about getting them neutered at the same time. Is this an ok thing? I know that 4 months is young but one of the kitties has been exhibiting 'male-like' behaviour. Any advice would be appreciated.

It is a good age for neutering. But there's a lot of controversy as to whether vaccines should be given at the same time as surgery. Spay/neuter clinics do it all the time, so it's probably "safe" in most instances, but the cat may not develop full immunity due to the anesthesia. So if you have a choice in the matter it's probably best to separate surgery and vaccines by at least a week or 2.
