I have a 2 year old Siamese. When I got him his body was the beige color, with the black tips. I went into the hospital for 4 months and when I got home this past winter his coat was almost all black. It freaked me out. Is this a result of climate change or what? Does anyone know if it will change back? Thanks.

All Siamese tend to get darker as they get older.  If he goes out he will get darker as well, as it's cold that makes the coat go dark hence colour on the ears, nose, paws, legs and tail.  And scrotum if it's a boy cat.

He's never been outside but I'm sure it is the weather change since it's getting warmer I guess I'll wait and see if he changes back. He's 2 years old according to the shelter.

Google for photos of 'Mylynn Montoya' and you will see how dark they can get!  He is still winning shows despite being so dark.

The temperature of the environment can make it change.  really it is the temperature of the skin but obviously the climate does affect that which is why in Thailand they are often very light since it is so hot there

.   also if they get overweight that can contribute to them darkening  since there is a layer of fat between the skin and inside the body where it is warmer.   I saw this in a Siamese mix who had gotten overweight for a few years and at that time his body color was darker.  once he lost weight he went back to the fawn / tan color on the body.

Some of it's just genetic though.   Some pointed cats get much darker than others as they age but usually you can tell by the time they are 2 if they will be very dark.  .

but there may still be a variation seen between differnt times of the year.  ( not coinciding exactly with the climate temperature,  it is a little delayed reaction because the color would be influenced by the temp. when the hairs start growing. )    I would not expect  a pointed cat that got very dark bodied to turn cream colored,  but they can vary between dark brown and light brown in the body color.
