Hi, I am new to the forum and I am not sure where to post. I have two cats and I am moving into a new apartment with a loft. My cats are indoor only.  Do I need to be concerned about introducing them to a loft?  They will be able to scale railing that prevents people from falling from the second floor.  I think they will love it but I am worried they might try to jump from the second floor to the first floor.

Yes cats can judge height or perhaps more accurately judge how to land safely.

Second floor to the first should be okay, inside at least.

But not outdoors since the distances between floors tend to be greater out doors.  I lived on the third floor of a three story condo building.  No way would Ritz have survived jumping from the balcony/window to the ground level.

Speaking of which, make sure your windows and screeens are secured.  "I see bird I want bird" may be a problem if your cats charge the screen (much less an open window).
