Chewing gum! Especially people who sort of chomp on the gum and snap it. I absolutely cringe every time I hear that!

Both the LOUD yawns and the LOUD sighs get to both me and Larry. When people yawn loudly and with their mouth open I can't help but scowl and cover my nose and mouth for fear of germs.
Larry used to have to take the train to and from work and complained constantly about loud yawners. Still, I will take that over whistling on any day, that is, IF I had to prioritize my pet peeves.
I agree with that.  There is this gentleman that I see in the stores occasionally and he makes me cringe when I do. Constant, tuneless, piercing whistling. I always try to go to the other end of the store, but all of them are so small, I can still hear him.

People who park in handicap spaces without a permit, to "just run in for a minute and use the Redbox" and then end up making someone in a wheelchair park half-way down the parking lot.  The city where I live refuses to pass a law making it a ticketable offense.

I think it's official! Most of us can't stand loud chewers, gum smackers, open mouthed yawns and sighs, whistlers, pen clickers and nosey neighbors. :lol3:

Mouth noises. Like chewing, crunching, etc. My husband knows my "look" when he is eating too noisily! Poor him!
I've been away for a week thank you Feralvr for posting such a great question )... but I had to reply as this is something I, too, really can't stand.  How interested that it rated so highly in the TCS annoyance stakes.  I don't feel alone now

:lol3: Last night I was stopped at Panera Bread to get my much loved bread soup bowl for dinner. I had to move to another table. I sat near a man who was eating up his chips. CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP... all with an open mouth. I had to laugh (after I scowled a bit :cringe:), it made me think of everyone else on TCS who has the same annoyance. Why don't people realize that is SO RUDE!!! :lol2:

I work in an office, in a cubicle.  People seem to think that, because we're in cubes, no one can hear them. One of my co-workers, for the past year, accepts lengthy (30 minutes to 1 hour) personal phone calls, and her voice, though usually rather soft, rises often, and she snorts and guffaws a lot. I can't complain--she's my boss. We both have jobs that require immense concentration and detail, so I find her chats quite disruptive.

The other person is always getting cell phone calls from her adult kids. It's not that so much, but the stupid swamp critters chirping ringtone that annoys me. Her most annoying habit: she NEVER SHUTS UP ALL DAY!  She's high-strung, giggly (everything is said with a loud laugh), and she also comes around to my side to chat with another co-worker (not in a cube, but 4 feet to my side, where the "door" of my cube is) several times a day. She also sings (she has headphones on) and has an awful voice. Everything about her is loud, loud, loud--even her shoes--and she often stamps her feet, thinking she's being funny. She's about 60, and needs to grow up.

I'm also near the department boss, who has an office. The door is open all day, and there's a steady stream of loud visitors in her doorway. She has a loud voice on her phone, which rings many times a day. I don't think she means to be loud, though.

Oh, and I'm also by the open door into the next office, and have to listen to laughing and carrying on--and the danged big paper cutter!

I understand that we can't be silent--I don't mind a bit of chatter, and sometimes join in--but these people are far too noisy and, except for boss #2, wasting too much work time on personal conversations.
