Back in December, my cat got a scab on his nose. Not on the nose leather, right above that, in the area that has very short hairs.  Very small--maybe slightly bigger than a pin head. Sometimes the scab would come off, and underneath would be a little raw spot, moist with a little clear fluid, until it scabbed back up again (similar to if us humans pick or knock a scab off too soon).   It never seemed to bother him, I don't think he a clue it was there. It finally healed completely after maybe a month or so.  At the time, I figured his nose got scratched playing with my other cat, and it took so long to heal because he kept knocking the scab off.  Now, 4 months later, it's back, slightly above where the last one was.  He is black, indoor only, and just turned a year old, so I really don't think it's cancer (plus the fact that it did heal before).  I have battled ringworm before, and I don't think it's that either. I've looked at pics of other skin conditions and none of them look right.  He actually did go to the vet while he had it last time, but for something else--I didn't mention it because it wasn't that bad and I really didn't think about it, and the vet didn't mention it at all. Any ideas as to what this might be? I would try to take pics, but I doubt it'd show up-- it doesn't really stand out against the black, especially when it's scabbed.

Is there a particular thing he likes to do? Like nudge the cupboard door for a new treat? Does he have a door flap on his litter tray, or to go outside?

It sounds like the spot that would get knocked when pushing something.

It sounded like a kind of cancer but you are right that would not have healed.

I had a cat once who got cancer leukemia , not feline leukemia before he turned one. he lasted a month after that. So you cant say he is to young.

Nope, no flap on litter tray, and he doesn't go outside. I really can't think of anything he does to cause this. And I know hes not "too young", that nothings impossible, but most skin cancers I have read about in this area have resulted from sun exposure, so it seems unlikely. Also, the new spot is slightly above the tiny scar the old one left.

I would have a vet look also. There is a thing called nasal mites....maybe he is scratching there.

My younger male kitty (now my only one) had a scab on that same part of his nose from the day I got him (over 8 years ago) until recently. For some reason, the scab disappeared and healed after my other two cats had passed away. Kip was always getting into spats with Rolly, but they were the kind where Kip would beat the crap out of Rolly and Rolly would just sit there and take it. All the kitties were indoor-only too. In other words, Kip never sustained any injuries from any other animal. I could never explain the scab, and while it would sometimes fall off, it would return no more than a day later, I guess from him itching his face? I know scabs get itchy for humans and animals alike. I still have no idea what caused it - it never grew in size, always just that same scab in the same spot, but if after 8 years it didn't kill him, I imagine it was nothing to lose sleep over. Just a little irritation of the skin that I referred to as a beauty mark.

ETA: Just realized this, look at my avatar. See that dot on Kitty's nose? That's the scab he had for so many years. It's totally gone now and you'd never know anything was even there. Sorry for the dual post - for some reason, I cannot edit my previous post.

Runekeeper, your description is exactly what my kitty's scab seems like.  He and my other kitty never truly fight, but they play wrestle, and chase each other around the house--they're both very young still.  It very well could be an injury from this.  My kitty's scab looks so similar to your avatar, but I think mine is smaller. That's funny that he has the very thing in discussion in your avatar!!!  I would definitely take him to the vet if it grew or I felt like it was something serious, but it just doesn't seem that way. Thank you, you have made me feel better!
