help w/ vry preg kitty! MINE AND MY CATS FIRST LITTER!!!

So roxys temp was at 97.9° with a human thermometer under her hing leg...im supposed to add 1° to that right? So 98.9°...on average for the past week its been at 100.6°-101°. (This is with adding the degree to what the therm said) so could this mean shes nearing that time? And how long after the drop in temp should you expect strong contractions? Anyone?

Usually labor begins about 24 hours after the temperature drops. But seriously girl, stop taking her temperature! I know it's just under the leg but any poking and prodding is just going to cause her stress and slow down delivery. I know how anxious you are but you gotta just let nature take it's course!

Cats are very sensitive to our energies so she could easily be picking up on your anxiety about it and that just makes her want to keep her legs closed. Give her lots of love and affection if she wants it and make sure all her basic needs are met. Other than that there is nothing else you can do, and all these potential indicators are just that- potential indicators. They are nothing definitive. I promise you, you will know when it is time. 

I would make sure you don't leave her for more than an hour without checking on her to be sure you don't miss it but otherwise pour yourself a drink, kick back, and chill. As soon as you let it go is when they will come. Enjoy the quiet while you have it! 

I know i try and stop my anxiousness but i cant. Ive def been more calm cuz i know its coming, soon! I only checked when she was rilling over letting me rub her belly but i understand what your saying. Its like i want someone to sayill happen tomorrow! When no ones gonna say that! Its just one of those exciting fun nerve racking things that you want to.happen when you want it. I promise ill be calm and only update the next time i have a serious question or the kittens are here!! And seeing as every question i could possibly asj has been answered, you wont hear from me till the little ones have arrived!

I thought my foster Lucy would be gone by now but everytime I go take a peek...she's lounging on the bed and looks at me with the "wha?".

There is no rule book on signs..some show many, some none. Just enjoy the anticipation..it will be all over soon enough.

I just lay with her and rub her big ole budda belly and tell her how many I want and what colours would be nice. hehe

Oh I'm not at all saying you shouldn't keep posting. By all means, do what you need to do. I just feel bad because I know you so desperately want to hear that this sign or that sign is the jackpot indicator that means kittens are on the way. And, as you said, none of us can tell you that. 

Someone once told me that when you really want something and focus all your attention on it it never comes. Basically, it's like the adage "a watched pot never boils." But, as soon as you accept that it''s not going to happen on your terms and let it go to the universe you end up with exactly what you wanted in the first place!

I can just picture you bouncing around the room in fun anticipation, then trying to calm yourself down by sitting on your hands to no avail.  You should enjoy it (as this will be the one and only time your girl ever has kittens, RIGHT).     Just know none of us can give you the magic answer you are dying to hear. 

If only cats would read the manual then we wouldn't have this problem! 

Hopefully you can get a little sleep tonight in-between checking on her. Just keep letting 'em cook. It's better to have some well done kittens than under cooked ones!

I just died laughing!!! And yes this is her one and only litter got the money set aside for shots and spaying! Im sure you all will see some beautiful pics of my kits soon!!!

The kittens are here! She had no idea what to do...i had to do a lot of it. Will the kittens find the nipples if shes got the long hair....im scared they wont

How can you tell if the mom is producing milk or not??

Cuz i dont feel like she is and i dont wanna wait too long to not feed them...

Some times you can rub there breast with a warm rag to stimulate the flow.

How many? Have they latched on yet? Their suckling will bring her milk in. They should be able to find them, put I always try and help and encourage for the first day to make sure I know all have been able to.

Don't feed them...just get them latched.
 

You should be able to express milk. It may only be a dot at the tip of her nipple. She won't have "full" breasts, as they stimulate as they suck. Make sure mom has access to fresh water. Sometimes, if they are reluctant to leave the babies, I will take food and water to them.

Is she being attentive? Licking them etc?

There are only a few nippkes working at all some of her nipples are so small. Im so crazy right now and scared hopefully it drops and theyll get it

I would..just watch em if theyr gettin milk they should be more content and if not theyll be fussy...try messaging her nips with a warm rag ive done that on dogs b4..did her kittens stop moving b4 birth??
