Hi, I just adopted a cat and she came fixed already, I have her home now but I'm worried that her incision is not okay. She is being playful, eating and drinking fine, but her incision looks kind of bad. There is a lump on it and I don't know if it's ok. The lady at Petco where I adopted her says that she is fine and that its healing form inside out. My baby is on antibiotics twice a day because she was messing with it so when I picked her up the lady said to give her the pills and she would be fine. What do you guys think? Is this how its supposed to look like?

Hum..... That doesn't look ok to me :nono: I would take her to the vet to make sure....
Not saying the lady had bad intentions, but she wanted to adopt her out, and scaring you would be counterproductive in that sense..... Although irresponsible IMHO.
If she was my kitty I would take her to the vet pronto - that wound is swollen and in the picture looks open to me.... A vet is the only person who can tell you if she is ok or not.... :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

That doesn't look quite look like normal healing to me as well.  It would be a good idea to bring her to see a vet.  Plus, it's a good idea anyway, since she's newly adopted; establishing her with a practice so that they have a baseline for her is always advisable.

If you are not sure about anything to do with your pet you can ring and ask the vet reception person. they usually can help.

That wound does not look too bad but it does not look good either. take to the vet today.

I have to agree about getting her to a vet. It looks abscessed to me and may need draining. Please let a vet look at it. It is always a good idea to have any newly adopted pet seen by a vet as soon as possible after adoption. You just never know what can crop up and having an established relationship with a vet is important.

No. That looks wortisome. Many vets give 7 - 10 days of amoxicillin or other antibiotics as a preventive measure so that alone will not solve this problem. I am not a vet but seen and treated THOUSANDS of incisions. It needs medical care asap. I can think of several treatment protocols but I would leave that to your vet or a 2 nd opinion. The lump alone could be indicative of a variety of issues, most minor, some not. See your vet tomorrow! ! Cats are Also noteable for not complaining since they want to hide vulnerabilities. Good luck!! I hope all turns out OK!!

Thanks everyone, yes I took her to the vet and it was an abscess, she had bitten the incision and caused it to get infected, the antibiotics started flushing the fluids out of her body but the incision closed before the fluids could be released therefor forming a bubble of blood and pus. The vet drained it and it has healed beautifully. She is doing very good!
