Gizmo is a 10, almost 11 year old, indoor cat. He is on an all wet food diet (Wellness Brand) that is high in mammal protein, low in carbs, has proper magnesium levels for a healthy urinary tract and is grain free. He has exactly 30 calories per pound of body weight every day and always has fresh water available.

Health wise we have been pretty lucky. On the two occasions that he made a dash out the front door (more than 5 years ago) he returned promptly with minimal scratches and no diseases, he had one UTI (treated with antibiotics 2 years ago) and a few yeast infections in his ears (8 years ago as a result of him sleeping in the bathroom sink under the leaky faucet). Until recently we have not had an major health issues.

2 months ago he was vomiting excessively (6 or 7 times over 24 hours) and refusing food and water. Took him to a vet where they ran blood tests (clean), urine tests (clean) and performed an ultrasound (clear). He received two rounds of IV fluids and anti nausea meds, came home and was back to himself with in a day or two. It turns out he basically had painful gas and heartburn as a result of me running out of his good food and feeding him the emergency stash of 9 Lives until I could get to the store.

Tonight when I cleaned his litter box I noticed white chunks in his feces. Not worms, I know what those look like and he does not have them. It honestly looked like corn (we all know what that looks like when we drop a deuce), the rest of the turn was of normal color and consistency. No blood, no mucous. It was a chunk or small fragment of something, I can't tell if it used to be a foreign object or his food that was digested weirdly and somehow transformed in his system. He is not in any pain and is behaving normally. Any ideas???

It should be noted that he was naughty and ate his way through have of a Boboli pizza crust that I had on the counter in preparation for dinner yesterday so maybe that's what I was seeing? Since bread is not included in his diet maybe it looks off when it passes through.

Also, last night he took a dump as usual, turned around and showed me his heiney and it was then that I noticed a turd half in/half out. Not stuck in his fur, actually in his rectum still. When I went to grab for him and 'assist" he hopped up on to his perch and * pop * it came out. This is the first time this has happened and he really didn't seem bothered. I'm leaning towards the Boboli maybe causing some constipation/change in consistency and hoping that it will settle itself down with his normal food and water routine.

Any ideas/comments/feedback?

My bet is on the pizza dough or crust or whatever it was that he ate.

That pizza dough probably had a lot of gluten that could well have upset his system.
My cat has had the occasional poop that doesn't come out. He just seems to get a bit constipated sometimes, but it hasn't been a big issue. He's a naughty food stealer too!
I hope Gizmo is feeling OK today!
