Jenny came home with her brother Archie 2 weeks ago. One morning not too long ago Jenny woke up with her eye partly closed. Her eye seemed to be "weepy" but it did not affect her play and appetite. Eye "goop" is present but she doesn't seem to be in pain as she is roughhousing her brother right now. Should I be concerned by this? Thoughts?

Isn't she adorable
!  So...is her eye still partially shut?  From what you wrote, I'm getting the feeling that now there is just the "goop" and nothing else?  With the partially closed eye, I would think maybe she got something in it (like a hair), or when they were rough housing, it got scratched.  If it's wide open now, it's probably back to normal.

The "goop" may just be the product of the weepiness.  I would probably just gently wipe away the goop with a warm washrag.  If it returns, then you could take her in to be checked to see if there is a problem

Thanks for writing back!

What you say makes me feel a WHOLE lot better, she can open her eye and it is never fully closed or sealed shut so to speak. Her eye opens more and more as the day progresses which I take to be a good sign. Also, if it's is only a hair, I hope her body expells it when it's ready. I did provide her with the warm water wipe and she responded well and her eyelids looked much clearer. She still runs and navigates perfectly so I am hoping that means it isnt very painful.

I will be keeping a very close eye on her and thanks again for the response. I do appreciate it a lot!
