So, although I could really use a break. I picked up a new foster momma today. One of our older foster "moms" has a bad hip and doesn't want Lucy to give birth at her home as she feels she physically isn't able to get down to assist if need be.

So, I have her until she births and then I'll be transferring them to her house.

She looks alot like Tigger my last foster but she's older. I'll post pics soon.

She's def been pregnant before. Apparently, she had been suffering from hair loss and her coat is rather sparse and brittle feeling. I haven't got the full story of the 'surrender'.

She is huge but I think some of it might be chubbiness. I can tell by her eyes and her teeth she is older. The last older mom that I thought was going to have 10 kittens, had 2! She was just a chubby bunny. ;)

Her stomach feels so full but I can only barely feel movement. So, I think she has some time to go. I can't feel heads or other bumps. She's not eating much but she's still adjusting to being here.

The wait begins.

Good luck. At least you know that you are taking in a pregnant cat. My cat I took in from someone that was giving her away cause they couldn't take her on the move with them brought her to me and my bf pregnant and we didn't know it. We thought she was just getting fat from all she was eating (first I had her on solids when I got her and then got her on wet solid mix and till my bf gets his first pay check she is back on solids and hopefully he gets his first paycheck before the kitten gets old enough to eat solids or we are mushing the solids we have and its all kitten formula). She was acting sweet the whole pregnancy and she let us pic her up with a lot of verbal protest. She is still sweet with less verbal protest except when it comes to feeding the baby. I think it was her first pregnancy how can you tell if they have been pregnant before?

I am wondering if they knew...  No real ways of knowing if they have been pregnant before when they are pregnant, though if she is very young probably not.  If they are not pregnant their nipples are often a bit larger than in a male or maiden female.

Ok well she was only a couple days along when I got her causse from my calculations off a website she mated about January 27 and I got her on January 30th and she had her kitten (named him Buddy) on March 27th just after midnight. I asked them if she had anything medical going on and she said that she didn't. I told them that even if she does that I would still want her. I would have still took her in if I knew cause I have a few friends that would want a kitten or two. But since she only had one my boyfriend said we are keeping him. We are going to take mom to a vet once the kitten is weened from her completely and then after whatever vet we take Tabby (name of mama cat) to says when he would feel comfertable giving him shots and then set up an appointment to get Tabbby spayed and Buddy nuetered

If you knew she had mated getting her spayed ASAP would have been best.  It takes a day or so for the eggs to be released after mating, another day or so for fertilisation and then several more days before implantation.  There isn't an actual pregnancy until implantation.

I didn't know she mated till the day she had her kitten. The only reason I knew the date was the 27th of january because I. Looked up an online mating callander and it said if the kitten/kittens was born march 27th then they mated January 27th. So no I didn't know till it was way to late. She is getting spayed when Buddy is weaned off. Buddy is getting nuetered when he is old enough.
