Hi, I have a Maine coon cat aged 17 months and a persian aged 8 months, last Sunday the Maine coon was sick 3 times and on the Monday she had bad dioreeha and the persian was sick once, I took my Maine coon to the vet and they gave me an antibiotic ( penicillin) for 5 days and she seemed to be a bit better only being sick once or twice more on the lead up to Friday when the meds stopped & the persian was only sick once more last Thursday.. All seemed to be a bit better, I've cut out human food all week and on the Monday I bought fresh food ( their usual one) just incase it was the food, I binned all my plants and anything suspicious ( there was no lillies or anything because I'm aware these cause problems) and I've done everything I can, cleaning their bowls out straight after dinner to avoid germs and cleaned their trays straight after they used them too and now tonight my Maine coon has just been sick again, wet food and kibbles ( I should mention that at the start of the week she was being sick a yellow liquid and then after that white foam and the persian was just sick white foam) and then she went downstairs and had dioreeha again.. I'm really worried something more sinister is going on here.. But then the persian wouldn't have been sick too.. I also wondered if it could be massive hair balls due to grooming the Persians very fluffy coat rather than her own which isn't as long furred.. The vet also gave me a wormer because she hasn't been wormed in a few months but even she said it was a long shot.. I haven't wormed her yet as she still seemed ill so I think ill do that tomorrow.. Also both cars are house pets.. Any help would be appreciated :) thanks

Welcome to TCS. I'm sorry your kitties aren't feeling well. What brand of food are you feeding? There are some being re-called right now for salmonella.

She's on whiskas, the indoor kibbles and gravy packets, the persian is on whikas too but it's the kitten one, but last Saturday I tried out the whiskas lick and chew.. I took them off it on the Monday after the vet, do you think it could be that?

Those brands aren't on re-call that I know of. If they're still getting sick it's probably not from a food they ate last Monday. I would call the vet again in the morning. Maybe just give them a little plain boiled chicken in the meantime.

I hope they're feeling better soon.

Whiskas is not a quality food. I'd get something grain free like Wellness, Natural Balance, Nature's Variety. Grains turn to sugar which can cause mega problems like this.

Don't start changing food until they have recovered and been well for at least a week, and then only change it very gradually.

I agree with changing it gradually but I don't agree not to change it now. It could very well be the food doing it, I see this all the time.
