Hi everyone!
I've never had this happen with any of my rescues.
I have a kitten I've been fostering from my yard, and I just had her spayed. I have her in a small room (nothing to jump on) The first night she bleed all over the room. She was fine when I left her at 10pm and the next morning, I found a bloody mess. The spay site had already clotted, so the vet said she was fine!?
Anyway, she seems to be having issues with her back legs. I don't know if they are giving out on her, or she gets so excited to see me that she just lays down.
How long can the effects of anesthesia last?
I should mention she was pregnant and the animal shelter didn't call me because she's technically a TNR. (But I've found her a home, YEA!)
Sorry, I'm babbling but I just want to make sure I don't rush her to the vet and spend $150 to tell me it can be normal. Of coarse the animal shelter is super busy and doesn't have an emergency line.
TIA

I dont know what it is, I hope it will get all allright in the end, but it doesnt sound normal, no. Not the excessive bleedings (even if part of it is hopefully red water), nor this weakness in legs.

Anesthesia should leave her by now, even if the vet spared on costs of the awakening injection.

So the weakness is something else.

What you can hope for is it is some swelling insides making pressure on something touchy...  And thus, fairly easy to help.  But I dont want to guess or be too optimistic.  Thinking on, it may also be internal bleeding doing the pressure on said touchy point.

Normally I would say it is a typical vet errand, where you at the very least must phone the vet ASAP.

You can always phone, you are paying patient, and this has connection with the surgery done.

He should answer, even if he normally isnt happy at telephone consultations for free.

Good luck!

Thank you! Its hard to tell if she's just plopping down when she see's me (shes super loveable) or if she's having issues walking. The room is super tiny and most of it I have put down blankets and beds for her. I most definitely can't let her out.
Right before she started bleeding, I caught her licking her stitches. That's when I put a collar on her. The Dr said since there's no swelling and the bleeding stopped its not a hemorrhage and the licking probably caused it.
I don't mean to sound flippant about taking her in but I'm trying to spay an entire colony on my own dime and right now I have 2 ferals in one room receiving meds for URIs, 5 of my own cats and 10mth old twin boys. I got her spayed at a shelter and they won't awnsers the phone. I'll call my own vet again definitely!

Is she on any pain meds? If she is, especially if she's on buprenex, it can make them dopey and make them walk funny.

I'm happy to say she's walking just fine. I stepped out for a few hours and she came trotting over to me with no problem!
Unfortunately the shelter sent her home without pain meds even after I paid extra for them. Hubby picked her up and forgot them!
She's going to have to go to the vet though because she picked up a URI and I only have enough meds to treat the other two ferals I have quarantined. Poor girl! It must hurt when she sneezes!
