My pregnant cat Lottie is now 65 days gone and yesterday she started to push at 11 am, they stopped for while, she was pushing on and off all and passing some bloody mucous. I'm worried because they have completely stopped today well last night. Is this normal? Should I just wait? Please help

If it HAS stopped now, stopped also earlier a some time, and she seems OK no troubles, it is prob no emergency.  best to phone your vet, but my guess is you dont need to panic.

But if she has pushed and laboured around the clock in 24 hours without result, you must worry and contact the vet asap - being also ready to rush her in.

Good luck!

Some of the pushes were quite a few hours between they wasn't close at any point. Is she preparing for a labour? She hasn't done anything today either. Thanks for your help.

I would guess it was some sort of precontractions.  But if you want to be safe, phone your vet.  :)

Better the vet guess (and he knows what follow upp questions to give), than me guessing. Im no vet.

Has she been eating and drinking fine? If the kitten is dead inside of her for this long it can cause an infection inside of her that can also kill the mama cat very quickly. I'd call a vet and see if you can't get her in to see if he can feel if there's another in there.

Ok my cat had a little blood off and on for 2 days after she had her kitten. If it is medium or heavy then call the vet and if it is light just watch her and wait cause when my girl started the light bleeding after she had the kitten I looked it up and now she is fine so just make sure she is eatting and drinking.

They can have a pause in delivering, and deliver next several hours or even days after. Healthy and alive.  Normally I would say, dont worry too much as long as she is calm and happy.

But here she delivered one stillborn, has some discharges which are more bloody than the usual red coloured fluids...(or was it someone elses comment??)  So the high watch is not over...  Continue to watch closely. Be observant on rised temp.

Why Im not just saying to call your vet?  If the kitten inside is still alive, it may be premature so to speak. If the vet takes it out now, he is doomed.  Being left inside, he has a good chance to mature and come out in his correct time.

All in all. Best you do phone your vet and talk it over.

Good luck!

Wonderful she is well now. Moms life is always most important in such cases. Excellent too she can still take care of her surviving kitten, and does it too!

I myself Im relieved, after my lenghy analyse, I did recommended you to contact your vet again.  Puh!

It would be terrible to know I gave a bad advice.

But tell me. The "standard advice" when you are wondering in such situations is: if mom is calm, contend, no problems at all, etc, you shall watch and observe, but you dont need to panic. You can wait.  Forumists who phone their vet do usually gets this advice from them.

Here we had this stillborn, and some bloody discharges as an extra warning.

Please tell:  How was she, exactly?  Calm and contend, or

you could notice there was something not okey?

What did the vets said?

I mean, I wonder, is the standard advice falsifyied - they can be calm and contend but have babies stuck inside,?      I want to learn and improve.

Good luck!

Hopefully they spayed her at the same time, so you don't have to go back for that.  Glad she's OK.

Glad to hear it, and that you could afford the care she needed.  Was this at night or during normal surgery hours?
