I had a nice tax refund because I attended school the first part of last year so I bought a new couch and chair today.  The ones that I have now are 17 years old and I have had throws on the couch for several years.  The frames were still good and there were no tears but I couldn't get them to look really clean anymore.  I am having the old furniture picked up Tues and I have to call the store Monday to arrange delivery.  I had to make sure the new wouldn't be here before the old is gone because I don't have room for both.  I'll have plenty of time to shampoo the carpet before the new furniture gets here.

I am so happy for people when they can get new things they need. I know you will enjoy your clean carpet and your new look in the living room.

They just picked up my old furniture and my new will be delivered tomorrow.  I've shampooed the carpet and that snowballed.  Since I had everything moved I washed down the walls, the blinds and cleaned the windows.   Since I dumped the dirty water down the toilet and rinsed off all the parts of my carpet shampooer in the bathtub, the bathroom needed a good cleaning.  It's all done now.

There was some kind of miscommunication.  I thought I was getting this yesterday and it was today.  They were here at 9 this morning.  I caught Patches clawing the arm of the couch and I never had a problem with that before.  I put a scratching post next to that arm.  I am hoping it was just a very short lived marking behavior.

I recently got new furniture too!  It occured to me afterward that I had never really stopped my cats from clawing my old futon because, to be honest, I never really cared, and then when I got my couch and my loveseat I was a little worried.

=) If it doesn't stop/Patches ignores the scratching post, double sided tape is awesome.  I was worried because Doll loves adhesives and I thought she might try to eat the tape, but nope, she just doesn't scratch my furniture anymore!

Very pretty, and they look comfortable! :vibes::vibes::vibes: that Patches decides the couch isn't interesting to scratch after all.

Beautiful - and love the matching pillows.

Hope to scratching is just a brief phase to investigate something new. Don't they have some kind of spray that cats don't like that you can put on the furniture, that won't damage the fabric? i thought I heard somewhere that cats don't like citrus fragrances.

Enjoy your new furniture - oh maybe you can put a sheet of something over the furniture for the time being.

Thank you.   Patches lost interest in clawing the couch quickly.  I think he just felt the need to scent mark it.  We all know everything belongs to the kitties, they just let us use their things.
