I'm realising that at some stage I'll need to upgrade my computer, but I really don't want Windows 8.  I'm getting pressure to use my mobile phone more.. at the moment it doesn't even take messages and that's the way I like it.  I'm only contactable when I want to be and only get the latest thing when it's absolutely necessary.

But I have friends that just love the latest technology and reap the benefits.

So today's question is..

How 'into' the latest technology are you?

Definitely not always into the latest technology. I do have an iPhone and iPad, but other things in my house are very, very far behind.

No Windows 8 here.....and there won't be, if I can help it. Heck, Rick is still using Win XP Pro!

Still have our Droid Xs, although I must admit I'd love to have the Razr Maxx HD.

Overall, though, we don't need the latest things.

I'm cautious - I like to wait until the bugs have been worked out and prices have come down. Besides, sometimes competitors improve on products.

I am not really into the newest technology..I have an ipad and an iphone but that is really all the technology I use..I also tend to be a minimalist, so I don't really like to buy things that I don't use all the time. However my SO is very much into technology, so we do have a good amount of gadgets around the house. He has to have all gaming systems that are in the market, since some games only come out on certain systems. To me that is such a dumb conspiracy to make you spend more money, and if it was up to me I'd just boycott them because of that...He also has an alienware desktop for gaming, and the one thing I don't understand why we needed : a nest thermostat that learns what temperature you like at what time of day. I keep saying, even I don't know that, the only way the nest can do what they claim is if was psychic and it was reading my mind...the list goes on and on..It drives me a little crazy trying to organize all the stuff he buys

I love playing with technology, but unfortunately don't have the money to keep up anymore.  In a "previous life", I used to evaluate technology for a large software company, so all the vendors would bring me their latest stuff to play with....lots of fun.  I have  Windows 7 PC that I hope to upgrade to a Mac laptop before I retire next year, when my funds will become more limited.  I have an iPhone 4, and an iPad 2.  I am a behavior consultant, and use the iPad with autistic and developmentally delayed clients, so at least an upgrade will be tax deductible...lol.....but nothing has enticed me to upgrade yet.  With a big gift card to Best Buy.....I would go a bit crazy tho....

We recently had an upgrade to Windows 7 at work, and we all hate it. It's been causing daily problems with the cataloging program we use, and in a very important, and constantly-used function.  The never happened with older Windows upgrades. Also, it's S-L-O-W, things freeze up, and sucks RAM memory like crazy (which may be the issues we're having. Theyinstalled more RAM on my pc, but it hasn't helped anything). It also interferes with our time-clock system.

I have it at home, and also hate it. Websites get frozen, etc.

I am using Win XP on this computer and Win 98 on the gaming machine upstairs.  So, I guess the answer is : not very, although I have a nook color I use to surf sometimes.

I am not with the latest technology at all, I don't even have a smart phone, don't need or want one.  I have Windows XP and this is my first and only computer.

We replace stuff when it dies, but don't try to keep up with all the latest gadgets, that's pretty impossible anyway.

My husband and I held out getting cell phones as long as we could, but after being involved in a car accident last September we realized how important it is to have them in emergencies. So we gave in and bought smartphones. (Our daughter has had a cell for almost 4 years - when she was 11, she had to commute to school by changing buses downtown, so her phone was for safety reasons.)

We are on our 4th XBox and our 2nd PS3 - we use them a lot. We probably won't get the new ones this Fall, but wait a few months and see how many bugs they have.

I just got a new MacBook Air - our daughter's used MacBook Pro was old and it died, so I gave her my white MacBook which is 3 years old. LOVE the MacBook Air, super-fast and it's so light, < 3 lbs.

I'm pretty savvy but things change so rapidly I find myself behind more than ahead of the latest technology. I love it though

Not much into technology either. I have a cell phone that we use just for emergencies -- no smart phone, no phone camera, etc. We use our home phone for all our long distance, as we have the Comcast Triple Play plan. Also we get very poor cell phone reception where we live, so just basic cell phone works for us.

It's not where I choose to put my money really.  I have a kindle fire that I love; but saved birthday money and things to get it.  I don't have a smartphone (but sometimes I wish I did).  We do have flat screen tvs and one old style one.  We were not the first to go purchase them.  Both were bought after saving gift money.  I guess I like technology; but we try not to let it drain our funds so much.

I'm not always into the -latest- technology. I have a Windows 7 laptop (love 7) that's a couple years old now. I just got an iPad Mini for my birthday from the BF. I got my phone in 2011, though it does need to be upgraded (doesn't text certain people), I haven't felt like spending that kind of money on a new phone yet!

Not much. I haven't had the funds, & even more so now, being out of work. I got my first & only computer 3 Christmas's ago. It's a Toshiba lap top from Walmart. Got it on sale the week before Christmas for 300.00!!  It gas windows 7. I like it, but now wish I had one a little newer & lighter!. My mom got her first lap top this year at Staple's & it probably weight half of what mine does.

I am thankful to even have it though!!

Sounds like you're all very techno-savy...

I've decided to work with what I have until it becomes untenable (PC-wise - if it's not broken, don't fix it!), but had to buy a new monitor yesterday... a DELL IPS.  Not sure what I think.. IPS gives true colour, but it's a glass screen and reflects.

It seems to be the way.. something seems to be the best thing since sliced bread, but there's always the glitches... Still, it's a nice monitor.
