Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for all of your advice/support here the other day when I asked about what to expect regarding spaying my cat at MSPCA. Lola's physical was perfect and the surgery went well. She is now safe at home with me and I've been watching her since 3PM when we got back. She ate the second she got back, took her pain medication (not the kind you guys advised against) which I was told to give her ASAP, and has been wandering around the house. She's definitely out of it and sore.

Here is my one concern: she is an extremely playful, active cat so I've been trying to keep her still, but she's already begun hopping on things and running a bit. It's nearly impossible to stop her. She has internal stitches and surgical glue and I'm just afraid she will tear something. She hasn't been licking at all and I assume she would only jump if it felt ok - but should I worry? I don't want to lock her in the tiny bathroom after having such a stressful day, but I'll do it if it means she won't make this worse.

Thanks again!

I've never tried to restrict their activity after a spay, and none of them have ever ripped out their stitches (well, Pixie chewed hers, but none have ripped theirs accidentally!). I think it's more likely she'd hurt herself trying to escape if you confined her. So don't encourage excessive activity, but also don't worry about her doing normal things.
