hello everyone!
yesterday my partner came home with a beautiful little lady tortoise shell kitten!
she leapt out the box into my arms i have named her Cuddles she's adorable!!

she is 7 weeks 6 days old. my partner bought her from a well trusted pet shop. she has had a vet check and has been wormed and flea treatment.

her sleeping worrys me tho i would like her to sleep with me. but she's to little n it worries me. so she's been in the kitchen. she has a bed we warm in the microwave first n settles in it at first she crys for 5 mins n it breaks my heart!

also the pet shop man toldmy partner that she should go on only dry food they have been feeding her twice a day wet and dry food.
i thought kittens eat more than that? and she enjoys her wet food she always has fresh water. i don't know what's best. hoping anyone can help!

also i have heard people say toriseshell cats have attuides !? is that true ?

love her to pieces!

Hi there and welcome to TCS
. Congrats on Cuddles. It sounds like you are already in love!

My kitten slept with me when he was 8 weeks old. I am a light sleeper and it worked out fine. I was looking for him the first night at bedtime and he was all curled up like a little shrimp on my bed lol. Could you put her bed in your room at night? If you don't feel like it's safe, wait until she's bigger. It won't take long!

As far as food goes, wet is soooo much better for cats than dry. Dry food is full of carbs that cats don't need. Wet food is much higher in protein and lower in carbs, a lot more meat, which is exactly what a cat should eat. I would feed as much wet as you can and only feed dry if you HAVE to (long work hours away) while she is a little kitten. You can cut out the dry altogether when she is a little older. I was home to feed them a lot so my kittens ate all wet.  At her age she should eat as much as she wants. I would give her 4 meals a day instead of only 2.

Do you have any pictures of your new baby? We love pics!

I'm so happy for you! All she needs at this young age is lots of love and attention! I've always freely fed my kittens as much as they want for the first year, wet a couple of times a day and dry left out all the time. The best way to find out how they are doing is to weigh them. I always had my kittens sleep separately as you are doing until they were big enough to climb out of the box and onto my bed. Then there is not a whole lot you can do!
This site will give you LOTS of info, go under nutrition or kitten care for good advise. As for being tortiseshell and having an atitude, I don't think it's the color so much as you'll find being a SHE will give her an attitude. My females have always bossed (and smacked) the boys around! I haven't had a female yet that wasn't a diva!
