Kitten stopped eating

Hi everyone,

I have a 7 month old kitten, I've had her since the end of October.  Right after I got her, she got a bad cold and stopped eating/drinking, got super lethargic.  I took her to the vet, they gave me antibiotics and some syringes for getting her food and water. She recovered and has been fine ever since.

Yesterday I noticed that she wasn't eating.  I gave her some water via syringe when I hadn't seen her eat or drink for a while, and saw her drink more after that (in fact she's drinking water as I write this).  But she still hadn't eaten.  This morning I decided to just throw out the food from yesterday (dry food) and start over, so I gave her some new food and she ate a bit, so I was less worried, but she hasn't eaten since and that's not normal for her.  Other than that, she's acting completely normal and she's active/playful/etc.

I have the syringe for the food from before, should I give her some wet food via that?  I am thinking I will, just to make sure she has some nutrition, and call the vet tomorrow.  But I wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts.  It's just confusing because she's drinking and she's playing and everything, just not eating.

Do you have any wet food to give her?  If not, try a little tuna. Or some butter. Just try to get a little bit in her. Kittens can't go long without eating.  Take her to the vet early tomorrow, please.

Yeah, I went and picked up some wet food this afternoon. I was going to call the vet today, but she ate this morning, so I backed off, but it wasn't much, and she hasn't since. I mixed the wet food with water and I'm giving it to her via syringe. It's weird because she can clearly smell it, and she was interested in it, she was following me around when I opened the can. She just won't eat it.

But yeah, I'm going to call around some of the vets in the area tomorrow, as I just moved.  Thanks for the advice! Any other advice or tips are always appreciated.

That is confusing. Since you already know how to syringe feed, I would try that, just a little. Sometimes that seems to kick start their appetite again.

Okay, cool, yeah that's what I'm hoping, that once she actually eats she'll remember that it tastes good and it's fun to do.

Hey guys she's EATING! I'm super excited. I bought a bag of dry food, different brand, just in case she didn't like this bag for some reason. Maybe that was it. I had her on purina kitten chow since I had her, the grocery store near my new place didn't have it so I got iams, which she has been eating but I got a different purina bag today and she's eating it.
