Our Hyundai Tucson has an iPod jack and I have a ton of music on my iPod. It works beautifully in the car; I can use the car stereo to work with the iPod to change to different songs, to adjust the volume, etc. I've been using the iPod so much in the car that since it was time to renew the Sirius account, I decided to cancel it instead. Yeah, well, good luck with that.

Those people are simply impossible to work with. I tried to cancel online. Nope, can't do that. I tried through an online chat with a customer care rep. Nope, can't do that. I have to call them. Well, again, good luck with that. The shortest time I was waiting on the phone was a little over an hour. I tried every day, at different times of the day, for a good two weeks. I emailed them to tell that I'd been trying and trying to call them with no result and that I wanted to cancel. Does not compute.....must call them.

Well, I finally got through to them. After going through at least five different service reps (all of whom tried valiantly to talk me out of cancelling), I got rather irate and said, "Just cancel it! JUST CANCEL IT! I don't want a discount! CANCEL THE ACCOUNT!"

Then she told me that I owed a balance of a little over $10. Why? Because I didn't cancel the account in time. You know, I called them and called them and called them. When they don't respond, why is that my fault? I told her that was completely unacceptable, that I had tried to contact them for at least two weeks to no avail, that I had tried online, through their chat, through an email, etc. I didn't think I should have to pay for their incompetence....which is, essentially, what it is. After a lot of dithering, the woman told me that she was removing the charge and that I owed nothing. I thanked her for her time and hung up.

And yesterday, I received a $10.00 bill from Sirius. *sigh*

Ugh. What a pain. :( I know my brother has Sirius in his house, but we've never had it.

Maybe you should sic the Better Business Bureau on them. If they did that to you, they're doing it to others.

Put the charge in dispute, if it was on a credit card.

They ARE hard to deal with. I cancelled my Sirius account and switched to XM. Got a call a monthlater. Sirius didn't get cancelled. what a mess.

That's nuts!

I've been getting calls from the one of the kid magazines I get for my DD (actually my parents bought her the subscription for Christmas).  I never answer those calls so I googled to see who it was and found out they can be very pushy because they aren't allowed to take no for an answer.  What a crummy job to have!  I'm betting most aren't doing that kind of work because they WANT to.
(I finally answered about a week ago, gave the system a pause to connect me to a person and then said "stop calling" about 10 times before I added "Or I will cancel my account!"  Haven't had a call since!  Hopefully it sticks!!)

We didn't pay that $10 yet. But we probably will. I did some online research and they'll take you to collection if you don't pay and Rick said it's not worth losing our credit over $10. But I am going to turn them into Better Business. It's the principle of the thing, although I doubt it will do any good. But I wouldn't recommend Sirius to anybody. They are very inefficient and the customer is the one who pays for their inefficiency.

I love the XM radio in my car- it makes my life complete!  I have never tried to cancel though.  That sounds like a huge mess, and I would do everything that I could to avoid paying the $10 on the principle of the matter.  However, you're right.  It's not worth ruining your credit over.

I hope that you took down the names of everyone that you spoke to on the phone.  If possible I'd take the names, dates and times of phone calls, and chew someone a new one.  Especially the person that said they would remove the charge and did not.

Was it Highlights for kids?  I got that when I was a child, and I seem to recall cancelling the subscription being a long and extremely difficult process for my parents.

We get their High 5 magazine (for younger kids). DD and I both enjoy it; but the best way to turn me off to a product is to try to sell it to me over the phone.
