I've decided to get Bond castrated this week. Tomorrow I'm calling my vet to make an appointment and I have no clue what I should ask him.

I know that the cat musn't be fed 12 hours prior to the operation and should and will sleep most of the day afterwards so the food and water bowls should be left by his side.
Any phisical activity should be avoided after the operation and that he'll be good as new in a couple of days and he should also be prevented from cleaning the operated area too much.

Anything else I should know or ask the vet about?

Neuters are so much easier on the kitties than spays. They recover fairly quickly. It is a pretty simple procedure and quite fast. You will fast your kitten after about 10 p.m. Water may still be left out. You will usually drop off your kitten early in the morning and pick up after 3:00 p.m. Try to keep him quiet after he gets home for a few hours until he is fully awake. I have never used an e-collar for my cats after these surgeries. Most times with a neuter, even if they lick the sutures (which are dissolvable), they rarely have a problem with healing. He will be just fine! :wavey:

My cats have never had stitches after being castrated, and have been back to normal by the next date if not before. The vet will tell you when to withhold good from, make sure you are clear about what is abnormal afterwards.

It's not usual for the scrotum to be stitched here, either, and recovery time is quite quick. Some vets want you to withhold water before the surgery, while others say you don't have to.

So I got Bond castrated! I was really worried about leaving him at the vet's for too long in that cage of theirs and rushed over as soon as my classes were over. Bond was already awake. I took him home and after half an our he was jumping all over the house. The next day he was running around the house like mad, wanting to playplayplay and play some more. He acts as do nothing has happened. He didn't get any stiches and the wound is healing up really well. He got his second shot of antibiotics and was good to go. He's stopped attacking my hand as if it were a female cat, and has even curled up in my lap a couple of times which iI really missed. I can't believe how worried I was :)

Thank you all for your advice!
