There are a LOT of feral cats in our complex. We currently have 4 indoor cats of our own. We have a very nice sized place to keep them. However, no room for any more until we move to our house in September. With all of the feral's here, and the new kittens always coming around, we decided to work with the Humane society in getting them all spayed and neutered.

As the time went on we fell in love with two sibling girls. We named them Wash and Kaylee. Truly the sweetest babies. Very shy, weren't really coming to the hand, etc. After months of feeding them and playing with them we were able to catch Kaylee and have her spayed, shots and tests done, worm meds, etc. All of it. She was still in need of leg surgery as she had a fracture. We were going to have it done in two weeks, along with her microchip. Sometimes financially, we can only do so much at once. Especially considering 2 of our indoor babies are sick at the moment, one with IBS.

Anyhow...we brought Kaylee home and she slept in the crate the night after her surgery. We couldn't let her roam in our home because of our other cats, and we couldn't keep her on our 3rd story balcony as she kept trying to jump over. Yikes!

So, we did what we had to...we took her back to the vet for housing. She stayed 2 days.

When she came home she was amazing. She not only wanted love all the time, but she would come to my door and ask to come in. She would help herself inside my place and she was just addicted to me.

She came home Sunday night, and was home for several days. The last time I saw her was Thursday between 12:30-1pm. I went down to feed them at 5:30pm and only Wash was in sight.

It's very possible that SO many things could have happened and not knowing is killing me. It's not like her to stray, not at all, and I am more devastated than I thought I ever could be.

Wash is so lonely and my heart is so broken. I put up a flyer by the mailbox set up with her photo and info, and my number. I've been looking at the shelter database for new cats arriving and called my 2 vets to be sure to keep a look out.

Tomorrow I will call every other shelter I can and maybe some vets, too.

However, I feel like she is not coming home as she is NOT the type to stray at all. She's 6 months and she only was gone 1 time when she was realllllly young. It's when she hurt her leg originally and she couldn't walk. However, her mom was feeding her back then so I didn't have to worry.

I feel like she was transported somewhere. And I don't know how to handle this situation. Every time I look at Wash I just get really sad. I'm crying right now as I type this. I love that little girl, and I miss her being in my arms.

My Sugar - an indoor only kitty - broke out through the screen door and disappeared several weeks ago.  I looked everywhere, called her, left food out where only a cat could get to, walked a radius of about 1000 feet, (fairly heavy woods), drove up  and down the road, stopping and calling, searching every hole that was larger than 2" in diameter, but nothing.  I felt sure I would never see her again.  The other ladies and I were devastated.  I figured something or someone had gotten her.

Suddenly, four days later, I hear her meowing, rush out in nothing but underwear into the 30 degree weather, heard but didn't see her.  I came back in, and about 15 minutes later I hear her again, go out - this time dressed and with a coat on.  She finally came onto the back porch, I opened the sliding glass door, and in she shot.

So, don't give up.  She knows where she is loved and fed.  As a former feral, she still remembers being free.  If she can, she will come back.

and
for you.

Day 4 and still nothing. My heart is hurting so much. 3 people in my complex ripped my number off of the Lost Cat sign I put up. So at least some people are interested in keeping an eye out. I did JUST add 'Reward $$' on the flyer.

I've checked the austin animal center's online database. It updates hourly. I just don't know if that is for all cats that are taken to shelters, or if that's for just cats brought to the humane society.

I feel so helpless and I want her back so badly. What if she was transported and I never, ever see her again. I just wish I could know. Even if she passed on and is with the Lord, I wish I knew.

If you haven't already, call all the local shelters and give them a description so they can be on alert in case she is brought in. They do update the databases, but sometimes people bring in animals, realize they have a certain timespan there, and decide to keep them. (I know someone who found a german shepherd on the freeway, brought it to the humane society, but decided to bring it back home with her after chatting to them and discovering it didn't have a microchip). I don't think they're supposed to do that but it definitely happens. I'm so sorry, my kitty stays indoors only but that's still my biggest fear! Hugs!

Kaylee went missing on the 28th of March. Haven't ever given up looking. I've checked Austin animal center daily. Yesterday, I noticed a photo of a cat that looked just like her. However, the age said 9 months. I assumed it wasn't her but the black speck on her nose and the 'spayed' part really had me questioning their judgement of her age. I called and was told my inquiry would be submitted.

This morning I received a call about her. I was told that she was likely not 9 months but 5 months. That got me out the door, fast. I arrived at the humane society, walked into the holding room and looked in the cage, only to see my sweet baby girl looking back at me. I couldn't believe it. After 13 days, she was brought in. She was found on my street, just a ways down from where I live.

I brought her home and there was hissing between her and my little Zoë. It got pretty bad a bit ago. To where there was a bit of a lunge and fighting. Mostly instigated by Zoë. I have them separated now and will take my time integrating them. I have given a ton of love to my babies and will continue to. I have never once had a problem with bringing a cat home. So this has been new for me.

I am relieved. But also saddened. My other female has made it very clear she will not tolerate another cat in the house. She's been after poor Kaylee. I need to find her a loving home, asap.
