My best estimate is that my cat Fluffers is 62 days pregnant today. Last night she was lying on the kitchen floor and when she walked away there was a puddle of thick clear jelly type stuff. Is that her mucus plug?

I always thought it had a little bit of red or pink in it, but this was totally clear.

I've been looking up gestation periods for cats and there are so many different numbers. I know everyone here seems to always say 63 as the average. Is that right? I've seen everything from 57 to 67 listed as normal online.

I'm just wondering, because even though Fluffers is 62 days she hasn't stopped eating yet (she's eating less though) and she isn't really nesting. She sometimes goes in and out of cupboards, but she won't go in any of the many boxes I leave for her...

Yes. probably her mucus plug. But it doesnt mean delivery is immediately near. Sometimes it takes several days anyway... The waiting game has many variations...

Good luck!

My cat just resently had her baby and I will tell you this once she starts bleeding (active labor) she will nest and just keep an eye on her make sure she doesn't get onto anything you don't want it on and if she allowes you to put her in her box after she has her kittens if she allows you to my baby girl is sayed back she allowed my bf to put her and her baby in the box we set up for her after her baby was born. We didn't know she was pregnant.

When I had cats that had litters they didn't stop eating. If they went into labor close to when they just ate they piled though. Same with dogs I used to breed.

If she is the type of cat that follows you around, you can tell she's in labor cause she won't leave you and will freak out if you leave a room. I had a cat do this when I went to tell my sister about the birthing. We turned around and Sheba was behind me with a kitten hanging out her her nether bits. So try to make her feel like you are there for her.

We was asleep when my cat had her kitten so she didn't have to worry about us leaving the room but we didn't know she was pregnant.
