I have another thread on here about my cat who has had surgery a few weeks ago to remove some Cancerous tumors. She has several tumors growing now so we are just keeping her alive and happy until she passes or shows signs of being in lots of pain.

We just woke up to the sound of her throwing up violently. She pretty much threw up her water and whatever was left of food. Right after the vomiting she started to meow really strangely and pant really fast and her eyes got dilated. I was holding her at this point an she felt limp in my arms. I was ready to take her to the animal hospital to put her down so while I was getting dressed my fiancé held her and that attack/episode went away. She's now resting and seems tired, but she's breathing "normal"- and I say it like that because the vet thinks her main tumor may be originating from her lungs. X-rays haven't shown any tumors yet though. She started to sound really congested as of a few days ago. I'm going to call her vet at home in a bit.

Does anyone know what this attack was?! She's never done that before. The vet gave her some Tramadol on Friday but I haven't given her any since because it left her too drugged up. She was constipated for 2 days and had just pooped in her litter last night and started to eat normal again. Don't know if this attack was related to the meds or the Cancer affecting her.

Suggestions?

I had a cat many years ago who did the same thing and he was eventually diagnosed as an epileptic.

I hope this isnt the case for your cat. Let us know what the vet says.

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. Poor girl. I have no clue what it could have been, and I'm glad your calling your vet. I just wanted to send some good
your way.

We just discovered that after the attack, one of her hind legs that she had surgery on and has several tumors in, she cannot move. She cries out if we touch it too. I think we may take her today to be put down...

Gentle Hugs to you.   It sounds like you've already made heroic efforts for your dear kitty.   This attack sounds very much like a thrown blood clot that has landed in a leg artery.    I used to have a cat with hypertrophic cardiomyapthy and she had a couple of episodes throwing mini-clots that were similar though the vet said if they had been big clots likely one of the hind legs would have become paralyzed and swelled.   Even if that's not it, I hope you can get your kitty to the vet for evaluation soon even if it is for tough choices.

Oh, the poor baby :( This must be so tough for you.

You should take her to the vet, in any case, whether or not you decide on euthanasia right now. Perhaps there is a solution that will give her some more time with you; perhaps not. Some cats with incurable tumors can be given painkillers to manage the symptoms, and stay with their owners for a little while longer. It all depends on whether the cat wants to stay with you, or whether it's time to go. I think you'll know... most owners do; we live with our cats for so long that we learn to read each other.

It could be that she threw up and couldn't get her breath properly. Both eyes dilated makes me think it wasn't anything to do with her brain, directly, because if a kitty has a stroke it'll be just one eye, usually, because the stroke happens on one side of the brain or the other. I wonder if the vomiting episode just stressed her out and she passed out because she just used up all her energy?

Tramadol does have nausea as a side effect. I wonder if that might be the trouble...

But she has you. I think, if a cat has to be ill, then it is a lot easier when the people around are trustworthy, caring folks. She is safe and warm and loved.

We're here for you. Virtual hugs. Hang in there.

The vet called back and he's coming over in a little to put her down. At least she's in the comfort of her home.

FYI, the reason she wasn't using her leg the vet said was because it had gotten fractured or even broken sometime this morning, possibly when she had her fainting spell/seizure. Says the tumor was most probably in the bone itself. She is finally at rest.

I am so sorry too - no doubt she knew and her spirit knows she is loved.
