Hi everyone, I really love cats and I am hopefully getting one next month. I have had cats in the past but I just wanted a little more advice from the experts. Thanks for taking your time to read this and I hope we can all be great friends! :)

Welcome abroad.  Ritz was my first cat ever, at the ripe old age of 55.  I wonder why I didn't do it sooner!  I had lots of questions, and lots of people on this forum helped me.  As we will do fur you.

There are lots of good articles on this site, look under Articles.

But here is one to get you started

And, we love pictures, so post one when you get our new Furbaby.

My advice would be don't overlook the older cats! As soon as a cat reaches 1 year and is no longer a kitten, its chances of adoption go way down because everyone loves kittens. But kittens are actually a lot of work! I've fostered kittens and I really don't think I'll ever own them because they are always getting into trouble and they are always getting sick because their immune systems aren't fully developed yet. They're usually not very cuddly either, because they'd rather play than snuggle, and older cats are more likely to appreciate just cozying up to you. And with an older cat, their personality is pretty much set so you can find a cat that fits best with your lifestyle. Kittens are more of a wildcard. They could grow up to be really laid back or very energetic, and there's no good way to predict that. Another bonus of a cat who's already an adult is that they usually know how to be a pet already, which is nice when you've never had a cat before and it can kind of help you out by already knowing how to use the litter box and ask for petting and jump up next to you when you go to bed.

I just wanted to note that this thread is over three years old. :)
And her last online date was 4/23/13 and was never seen after that.
Maybe the MOD can close the thread and maybe some more other old threads started by members that did not return for a long time to reply their own thread.
This trend is all happening in other forums too. They come in ask a question but never return to check the answer and like this case, for example, it's three years and members are still helping in the reply :lol3:

And you must invest in shots and neutering. I got Honey for free at Orlando County Rescue
