Hello! I came to this site after our household went from 0 cats to 4 cats over the span of less than 2 weeks! We have a senior dog and I had decided not to get another dog until she passes away, so I thought that cats would be a good idea for some companionship. So my sons and I (they are 2 & 4 years old) picked 2 shelter cats to adopt, they're both about a year old but couldn't be more different in looks and personality. Then a week later a friend of a friend announced she had a litter of tabbies to "get rid of" and whatever wasn't given away that day would go to the pound. And of course I didn't want that to happen so I took the last 2 kittens, a little boy and girl who are 8 weeks old. All 4 of these guys are now altered and vetted. But wow....holy cats. It's kind of overwhelming to have so much activity around the house and I'm definitely starting to feel like a "crazy cat lady" (not meant in a bad way, just that my life/schedule has become so cat-centric almost overnight). But I'm hoping that as all the humans and cats adjust we'll settle in. Everyone seems to get along - cats, dog, and humans - so we'll see how everything else goes! I'm hoping to read and learn lots because I need it!

And you've got two very young kids, too--wow.  That's a lot all at once!  It's great everybody gets along, that's a huge hurdle to get over.

We recently went from a household of 3 cats to 7 cats overnight after a friend died suddenly, so I can relate to the sudden cat-centric life.  I'm with you, I think time is the answer--everybody needs time to adjust.

Good luck!

Welcome to the site!:wavey:

I love that you rescued so many kitties! In time I am sure you will adjust and then it will just seem normal.
