Frankie loves looking out of the window for hours at a time. And it so normal for him to meow at things that only he can see. However, last night he was meowing in a way I never heard before and meowing with more urgency so I got up to see what was setting him off. Well, on the other side of the glass was a cat ( I assume female)  just sitting there having a cat conversation with my Frankie. Once the other cat saw me she took off. Ever since then it's like Frankie is looking for her.  He is running from window to window and  won't stop meowing.. which would be fine if he wasn't meowing so loudly. To try to stop his meowing I pushed my couch in front of my patio doors to try and keep him from being able to look out the window but that didn't work. Now he is searching for a way to look out the window and is still meowing loudly as he is doing it. Frankie has never been outside. He has never been with a girl. And he was neutered when he was a wee kitten. So what is going on with him? Is the smell of the other cat driving him crazy or something? And is there anything I can do to calm him down?
Any info on what is happening and how to deal with it would be greatly appreciated.

He probably wants to play with the other cat if it is a female.  If it is a male, it is probably spraying HIS house, and Frankie wants to kick his bum. Is he an only cat?

Perhaps it's a girl kitty and Frankie can smell she's in heat? My Pepe gets a little crazy when girl cats are involved even though he is fixed.

Yes, Frankie is my only cat. And today he is STILL doing that loud meowing thing in front of my window. I look out the window and nothing is there. I don't know what to do...  I tried to take his attention off that window but it only works for very short periods. If a male cat sprayed my house is there anything I can do to get rid of the scent he left behind?

If your house was sprayed, you will be able to smell it when you get close.  If you smell something, spray it down heavily with an enzyme cleaner, rinse the spot, then spray down and rinse anywhere the rinse water went.

i have a male cat,he was crying in a strange way day in and day out....i thought once he was neutered he would carm down....neutering him stopped the spraying straight away...but not the content need to get outside...which i think your cat has developed...

after months of listening to him so di-stresssed i realised that he was seeing the other cats outside roaming round,playing..and socializing with each other...and i think he just wanted to be with his own kind...as he was my only cat...so after much thought..i got a cat flap and slowly introduced him outside on supervised visits with me...that was about 2-3 months ago now.....now he does not howl or cry contantly...he mix's with other pet cats in my area...and seems so much happier and relaxed....and as he is neutered...he does not go far and he does not get into fights..i actually have this ginger cat that comes for him sometimes...its like he's calling him to come play outside...my cat runs out and they go off to play..its sweet...and now he's happy..i feel much more relaxed...

some cats will never settle for a life time locked up....some cats are happy to be indoors just eating and sleeping with the odd bit of play time with thier owner....but i watch my cat out the window climbing, jumping, chasing bugs, rolling round on the ground...chewing grass...playing with other cats....and i think he's never enjoyed life so much....maybe your cat wants out now too...you just have to judge your area you live and decide if its safe enough for your cat to go out...if not..a cat pen or cat run is another great way of letting them out to enjoy the fresh air,sun and smells...and your minds at ease then too...

i'm just lucky that i live is an area thats quiet, little traffic,no wild life...or ferral cats either...
