pinkman here!

I am looking for a treat that is low calorie, preferably less than three calories per piece, high protein treat that I can use for clicker training. I have been using broken pieces of Whole Life chicken and bonito flakes. I have also thought about using individual kibbles of Orijen, but not sure because of the carb and fat content.

Any other suggestions? My cat Lox is a small, slim girl and I need to make sure that I don't go beyond her targeted caloric intake.

Try Pure Bites freeze dried chicken. The only ingredient is chicken, so cats love them like a treat but they are healthy and have protein. I think they are 1 calorie each.

My cats go nuts for those Pure Bites.  I also get the shrimp ones but don't use those quite as much since I have a male cat and avoid seafood as much as possible.

I'm going to use the chicken to clicker train our younger girl. A friend gave me the kit; someone gave it to her but she wasn't interested in it.  I think my Cocoa is a good candidate for it.

Have you tried the feline Greenies "Smart Bites" ? They have the traditional Greenies exterior with a soft interior. 3 of my 4 cats love 'em! The 4th cat hates all treats LOL! If you're not familiar with them you can find them at http://www.greenies.com/cats.aspx#/products/healthy-cat-treats There are different varieties and flavors.

Mine don't care for the small meat type of treats but now and then I'll give them some of freeze dried treats and the are okay with those but not over entusiastic. *sigh* our kitties have US trained :D

I'm contemplating clicker training (as soon as I figure out how to do it with THREE cats) and was planning on using Purebites chicken, broken up into small pieces.  Just ordered a fresh bag to get ready.  Now if I could just find a clicker with three distinct sounds
.  I know I could do 1 click, 2 clicks, etc., but I (myself) would probably mess that up

Thanks all for the suggestions.

After I run out of the Whole Life chicken treats I might try the Pure Bites, especially if they are cheaper than the Whole Life treats.

I was looking at other treats and fount the Lickety Stik by Pet Safe. It's suppose to be a roller ball stick that your cat (or dog) licks to dispense some liquid. I think it was one calorie per 20 licks or so. Does anyone have experience with it?

I have 2 of the Likety Stiks in my cupboard as we speak. I have them for my dogs but have not tried them for my cats yet. They are okay. The dogs love them but that itty bitty lick they get is never enough :D My only real complaint is that the roller ball dries out quickly and when you squeeze to get more liquid out it can get messy. Otherwise they are okay.
