It's Easter and flowers are everywhere - including the extremely toxic (to cats) LILY plant and flowers!
Cats are hypersensitive to the poison in every part of the lily plant. Your cat doesn't have to eat a leaf or petal; even licking a speck of pollen from a paw or fur will begin kidney failure at 100% mortality rate if not treated before symptoms set in.
Most cat owners don't even know what happened to their cat until it's too late. If you know your cat came in contact with a lily plant, immediate emergency treatment is required for there to be any hope of survival. Do not wait for symptoms!
If you have a cat, do not bring these flowers indoors. If you are giving lilies to someone, please make sure they do not have a cat. All the different types of plants in the lily family should be avoided.
Putting the plant "up high" does not solve the problem since the pollen can fall to the floor and be licked off of paws.
This scary information does not seem to be common knowledge here - please spread the word to help stop unnecessary kitty deaths and suffering!
