Well my newest rescue, 9 month old Jack Frost (formerly known as Oliver), had his first vet visit today, and was diagnosed with a grade 3 heart murmur. A cardiology specialist was recommended and when funds allow, he'll have his ultrasound. In the mean time he seems fine. Eating well ect..but gets winded with any vigorous play. Anyone with experience with this type of problem? Trying not to panic here.

'congratulations on your newest addition!  However, I'm  sorry to hear about his having a grade 3 murmur
.  Maybe it seemed worse than it was because he was stressed out?  I've heard of that happening, but truthfully, I would be getting that ultrasound too, just because!

Here a thread I found about other cats with grade 3 murmur's, and even though it's kind of old, maybe you'll find it helpful:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/238754/heart-murmur

Oh I am sorry to hear about Jack Frost.

I would keep the play limited till you know more and have consulted with a cardio.  Love on him instead.  I had a little gal Beeshee Marie who had a level 7.  The vet said with almost 100 percent certanty that it was inherited.  When that young, she was 2, it almost always is.

I will keep you all in my prayers

Thank you both so much, and thank you for the link, was reassuring.

He will definitely be going for a cardiac consult as soon as I am able. Hoping stress and such may have made it sound worse,  *fingers crossed*
