Hi! I'm Tarin. We have 4 cats, Pumpkin, Spice, Latte and turtle momma! Turtle momma was dropped off to us pregnant and we now have two 5 week old kittens. For the first 3 weeks they were in a birthing box in my room but now they are in a pen in a corner off the living room. Momma keeps bringing the babies up stairs and hiding them in the kids (4 year old twins and a 5 year old- all boys!) room. The kittens want to run around and play, but momma wants to keep them laying down with her. I can't let her keep bringing the babies into the kids room. It's not safe for them, I don't know what to do!

You need to find a safe room for them - it's not good if the mother keeps hauling them around, though she is only doing it because she's being a good mother.

They are safe where they are... even though she doesn't feel like it. She is a great mother, but I don't know why she won't just leave them in the safe pen.

Yes, but Oriental means, she needs at this moment a room where you can close in them, so she cant come out and wander carrying with them...   Possibly she feels safer in the smaller room of the kids, than in the big open living room.

You are not the first in this situation, nor the last, if it makes you feel any better!

Welcome to our Forums!

Good luck!

Her idea of safe and your idea are two different things.  She wants them out of the main living areas, somewhere nice and quiet.
