Mia had a vet visit today, just boosters and worming and I'm starting to worry. He said she would be quiet just like last time but she's never acted like this before.

She's slept all day, she's not purring, she's only eaten 6 cat treats and a finger tip of wet food since her visit. She's very very quiet and not interested in any play or anything. And she hasn't pooped either..

I know he said she would be quiet but she's not acting herself and I'm getting quite upset.. It's almost 12pm so I can't call the vet. Please let me know if this is normal.. :(

P.s I've only noticed this behaviour a couple hours after she got home.

Just let her rest.. make sure she's having some fluids (don't feed her dry stuff.. encourage wet).

If she's still not herself tomorrow, I'd call the vet just to be safe.

You're being a very caring new pussycat mum

Thanks mani, she's not taking wet, chicken flavour or fish flavour. I feel that she's feeling queazy. She won't drink water or milk.. I feel like crying that she has to feel this way. I don't feel like a good cat mum I feel like I've done this to her..

I pray that she feels better soon.

Sorry I meant kitten milk, I think it's because of the lactose.

I will have to wait until Monday I just remembered.. On a lighter note. I woke up at 5 this morning to check her and managed to get about two tablespoons of wet food into her by hand. So that's progress I guess.

She still won't move though so that's a bummer.. She can move but she just doesn't want to.. She seems sore, but at least she has something in her tummy.

Thanks, no they aren't open on Sundays and they're number has an automated message thing when they're closed.. I've read something about the cat having stiffness after vaccinations so il try not to bother her to much.

Poor girl, last time she was a champion and the only thing that happened was a little bit of crying and a lack of appetite not full loss.

My kitten was very lethargic all day after his vaccinations. All he did was sleep and eat, not his usual self running around like a lunatic. That's great she is eating again. Is she moving around at all?

Where are you in Australia, melhammouche?

(not that I thing there's an emergency.. more out of interest)

Sometime when we have vaccinations we can feel a bit iffy afterwards and it can be the same with cats.  Don't feel bad.. you've done absolutely the right thing by her.  Just make sure she's getting some form of fluids and monitor her.

I'm in shepparton Victoria mani :)

She's feeling better now, not sooking anymore. Her movement seems a bit better (still stiff) but she's finally eating. Only a little bit and she's being veeeeery picky. But I'm happy :)

I'm glad your baby is beginning to feel better!

Annual vaccinations are one of those "accepted" practices that have come under closer scrutiny in recent years. In fact, it's falling out of favor with many due to the numerous complications that have been linked to it, not to mention the basic necessity of shooting our pets up every year has been debunked. Vaccination Facts

My cats received their "kitten shots," but excepting what I'm forced to do by law (i.e. rabies vaccine), they have not and will never receive another vaccination.

I honestly had no idea that I could choose.

Well lets just say il be asking next time if the vaccines are absolutely necessary because I've never seen anything like this (being a new cat owner) and il NEVER choose to do this again unless I really need to.

What lifestyle does your kitten lead?  Will she ever be in a boarding cattery?  Might you want to show her - most shows have household pet sections?

No she's just an indoor only kitty and the only place she goes is the vet and I'm only allowed one cat. That's why I figure it might be best for her to stop having vaccinations

Hi Auntie, I asked this question a while back but I'm curious what you think too. Whenever I adopt a cat they checked to see if my cats were up to date on vaccines. The 2 I have now have had all their kitten and booster shots and are now 2 years old, indoor only. I would prefer not to give them anymore shots. Won't this make it hard to adopt a cat in the future when they check and see that I don't vaccinate? Any thoughts on this?
