my teasing beezer hound

does anyone else on here have sighthounds? 

this is my kiddo Toby  this breed starts out with blue eyes that turn green and then amber. 

I am not a dog person, but that is a gorgeous dog.  In the third picture, he looks almost like a baby deer.  Where did they originate?  Are the ears floppy at first, then stand up with age?

the ibizan is a threeway hound classified as a sighthound due to build they use the ears, eyes to hunt, they can blush and jump 6 feet from a standing position. the originally came from egypt but due to traders  were moved through various parts of spain as a result their are several breeds of"podenco that originate along the coastline of spain. they are still used for hunting today and if they are not red and white are not considered a member of the breed. the ears stand with age no cropping involved but can be easily damaged many have ended their show career due to a cut on the ear causing it to fall. my boy will often sit in the window with the cats  and people watch and they will all three chase a laser pointer ;p for some time their was a misconception about the ibizan and pharaoh hound being the same breed and they were allowed to enter breed so sometimes you get pharaohs with rhomboid rather than triangle ears.

the breeders in the US have done a wonderful job with them in comparison to some in the UK who are now experiencing some of the first major health problems in the breed (most of the US breeders avoid those lines) dwarfisim and seizures though their are some breeders in the US that have also encountered these problems but not with the same frequency. 

sorry lol i get hyped up about the breed and chatter on! you can find videos of them hunting, they fast before they hunt then are allowed to give chase to rabbits which they SHOULD bring back alive the hunters will often offer them water straight from the canteen its truly awesome to watch , they hunt like foxes

Wow he's gorgeous! I met one of these guys once at a dog show and he was awesome.
