HI!

My Cat was spayed 10 days ago and the doctor told me that i had to leave the cone for 10 day (which i did) .. Anyway i took it off this morning and she started to bathe herself and her face since she couldnt in 10days but then she started at the stitches. There was a couple of dissolved stitches left and she pulled them out.. Its not bleeding but im nervous to let her lick it .. Can she open the wound? should i put the cone back on? or is she pretty safe now?

If the wound has mostly healed and she isn't making it bleed, I wouldn't worry about putting the cone back on. I would if she kept at it though because she could irritate it or open it up again. By 10 days though it should be well on the way to healing, especially on the surface.

I think she will be fine. This is pretty common even after ten days. We never put cones on the cats at the shelters after spays and rarely do we have problems. She will lick at it because she has not been able to for ten days due to the cone. I would let her be for now and just check the incision daily. It should be healed up well enough to withstand some licking after ten days.

I had to put the cone back on since she was digging in her belly and the incision became red and puffy.... I put some cream on it that the vet gave my pup when he was neutered .. It says its for cats and dogs and its antibiotic..  it seems to have made the redness go away but its still alittle puffy.. I will keep it on for the next two days incase she irritated it and try to take it off again..

Cats are little determined buggers lol
