My Cute just had kittens, I live in an apartment and have another cat that I'm getting fixed Monday. Do you think that it would be a good idea to keep her in the closet with her babies when we can't watch them?

And another question... when is it okay to start handling the kittens?

Also I am moving in 9 days and I want to know how I should go about moving momma and her babies to the new place?

You start handling kittens at first,by weighting them every day.  (use a kitchen / mail scale measuring in grammes. Electronical best).

You may also move them if you are tidying the nest, changing there and so.   More than that, you dont need to overdo the handling the first 2 weeks.

After they are 2 weeks, you handle them more to be sure they are well socialized.

The other cats?  If they are all very friendly, mom wants to have them near, they are helping her - you dont need to isolate them.  But if there is any no, or you are unsure - yes, keep them apart when you arent near.   If you think there is ANY stressing for her having the others near - keep them apart!

Mom and kittens goes always first. Second goes the kittens with their mom.  First thereafter you can begin to think about the others.

Moving:  Prepare the other flat as well you can, so it is at least no noisy activities there.  Make ready the bathroom/her room.   Home she can also be in the bathroom / her room, which is the last to move.  You dont change anything in her room. At the move itself:

You take them in a big carrier / dog crate / a secured cardboard box, have her on a leash - and move.

Have her in the bathroom /or her new room which are made ready beforehand....

After that, you move over the rest.  She and kittens are undisturbed in their own room /bathroom...

I hope you understood.... :)

Good luck!
