Hi everyone, I just joined because I'm worried about my kitty. Shes about 4 years old now and has been in great health so far, all of the sudden tonight she started puking up foamy stuff. At first it didnt worry me, but its going on 2 hours now that shes been puking up foam every 20 minutes or so. She wont eat anything, wont drink anything, and wont let us touch her now either.

I have checked everywhere and haven't found anything that she could have gotten into/eaten but I know that doesn't mean she didn't get into something. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of anything else it could be?

I'll be taking her into the vet first thing in the morning as its too late right now to get her in.

Thanks for the help!!

It does sound like she got into something toxic. Is there an after hours vet anywhere near you? If there is you may want to consider taking her tonight. The best case scenario is that it's nothing serious but if she did ingest something poisonous it could save her life.

Here is a checklist of common toxic household items: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/174854/101-things-that-can-harm-your-cat . If there are any she may have had access to time is of the essence.

We don't have any close... its quite a drive to the nearest one. Is there anything I can do til the morning to help?

I looked through that list.... and there really isn't much on there we have around for her to get into, no plants in the house, all medications are secured away, etc. Shes also never been the type to eat things sitting around, she won't even eat human food if you try to give it to her. Shes overly picky. I really hope its not something too bad but I'm a worrier so I'm kinda freaking out.

That's better,

That other user (kittymommy1506) is me... i couldn't find my log in cuz its been so long so figured it wasn't here anymore.. but it is!

Anyways for anyone that remembers me from way back when i was here.. its my Pixel kitty that is the sick one.. and I am still trying to find if she got into something... but can't find anything.. soo I don't know.. shes not the type to eat something sitting around.. shes very picky.

Any suggestions of what i can do to help her til the morning?

She seems to have calmed now... no puking in the last while.. shes just resting now...

Thanks everyone!!

That's good she's not throwing up anymore. Other than trying to coax her to drink a little I don't know if there is much you can do. It's okay if she doesn't want to eat but trying to keep her hydrated is important. Though I wouldn't force her to drink at this point.

Just keep a close eye on her until morning. Hopefully it's nothing serious and she will be just fine!

After many trips to the vet... we finally found that she had thread wrapped around her tongue that was also down her throat and into her intestines. She went into surgery this afternoon but sadly didn't make it back out. I at least got to be there with her when she died. I will miss that little girl :( RIP Pixel girl... 3/17/2009-3/26/2013

It was just so unexpected... its hard...I had never let it cross my mind that she might not make it through surgery. :(

AW hun, of course you didn't think that would happen. But, you had no choice in the matter as your kitty needed the surgery. We cannot predict these awful outcomes and they are truly so very emotionally painful, so shocking. You are a loving kitty momma and did all you could to try to save your :rbheart: Pixel. I feel for you tonight. :hugs: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Wow. I am just so surprised and saddened to hear this. I'm so sorry to learn of her sudden passing. At least you got to be with her in the end and that she didn't suffer.

All my thoughts are with you tonight and the next few days as you start the mourning process.

RIP

Oh I'm so sorry to hear this.  It sounds like you did everything you could!

I am going to close this thread since Pixel has passed.  If you feel up to it; you can post a tribute to Pixel in the Crossing the Bridge section.
