Do you use Groupon, Living Social, Restaurant.com or whatever type of deals for your area?

I have to admit that I am now an addict. :lol3: I started off with just Groupon and now I am signed up to get almost every deal in the area emailed to me. :lol3: We tend to go to the same area in New Hampshire 3-4 times a year. This morning I really lucked out and managed to score 4 gift certificates for restaurants we go to up there for over 30% off. :woo:

I very occasionally use Groupon, mainly the local ones.  Was recently alerted to a coupon for Kindle Books and a high-tea at a local restaurant.  I hesitate to click on some of the deals because it seems too good to be true.

We don't do coupons over here.. well not in the same way or scale as the US.

I did just google Groupon, though, and found some deals there that were pretty amazing.  Not a lot offering though.

 Good score!

I've signed up for just about every one going now too. Even my usually skeptical DH is on board and actually hunted down a few sites too! He got me to sign up for RedFlagDeals the other day:

It's Canadian but I'm sure there's an American counterpart. It seems to combine a lot of the deal sites.

A got a little crazy Grouponing for a while, so now I'm more restrained and just get ones for restaurants that I'd like to try or for things I've never done but would want to. We've done: an hour class of archery, a half day at the shooting range, climbing, kick boxing, horse riding.....it's great! Stuff I'd never even think of, or things that are too expensive usually.

I'm a big fan, but I've learned to check out the individual businesses thoroughly before buying a Groupon. I've had a few complaints, but both WagJag and Groupon have been very good about dealing with the issues.

I use Groupon now and then and I'll use restaurants.com now and then. I'm not an addict but I do use them fairly frequently. I am totally addicted to Angie's List! I've gotten some excellent deals on home/appliance repairs and all gave excellent service!

I've seen Groupon, but have never tried it; I guess, because I'm not quite sure how it works. Do you pay for those coupons or are they free? Do you just sign up for them? Would somebody describe how it works, please?

Sure! I signed up for the daily emails from them for me area. You get a new deal every day. If the offer is $10 for $20 at a local restaurant, you buy the deal for $10 and then print out the certificate and bring it to the restaurant where you get a $20 credit. You have to keep an eye on the restrictions.

Oh yes...I love Groupon, Weekly Plus, Living Social, all of them.  I've gotten some great deal too.  Restaurant.com also.  I had a $280 mural painted on my wall for $59 from Weekly Plus. ( All my local friends are so jealous that they didn't see that one, so now they have me checking daily to see if it pops up again!)

Pam, you just sign up with them, then you will receive emails listing the available offers.  If you see something you like, for instance, a massage for $15, then you click on it, pay for it, then they (Groupon or whoever you bought it from) send you the email with the info or you click on their website for the voucher info and print it and take it with you and present it to the Vendor.  Depending on the deal, you may or may not pay more.  For instance, if you purchase a massage for $15, you might want to tip the masseuse, but it's not required.   You just need to click on the "view more" to read the fine print on each deal before you buy.  But usually there is no additional cost...unless it is a product being shipped to you, then sometimes you pay a flat S & H fee, which will be disclosed up front.

I believe Groupon is on the verge of going bankrupt.  I think that's what I heard, anyway.
