I'm just curious what people feed their Cats.

Before I came onto cat forums I was feeding my girls Felix and Whiskas wet food and Whiskas dry food as well. Naughty I know.

Now dry food is scrapped as well as Whiskas (Sometimes still get felix wet food) and have them on Butchers Classic. The only problem with Butchers is that the fish packs they like, all but the two tins of Ocean fish and then the others pack they like (The chicken and beef) but not the game so there is two tins in each pack they won't eat which is kind of a waste of money but I still think Butchers is better than supermarket brand and is actually the same price. Though, I do get supermarket from time to time too.

Once payday comes at the end of the month I'm planning to hit zooplus and get some Bozita, RC and other Cat food.

Been tempted to start on raw but wouldn't have a clue on where to start and what ingredients are needed, etc. Plus, the cost of doing raw which, again, I'm not sure on. Is there a sticky on this by any chance?

There is a section on raw feeding :http://www.thecatsite.com/f/65/raw-feeding-for-cats

Mine are currently on a combination of foods, EVO, Natural Balance, and Sheba for when my female gets picky. Still working on pulling dry from their diet, which atm is Wellness core.

Welcome to TCS!
Thanks a bunch. Will definitely check that out.

Yes, didn't even know dry was bad for them until I was told. As well as what you need to look for in certain foods. I even have to write some stuff down from all the info I get because there's so much to take in. Lol.

Thank you. Quite quiet here though, isn't it?

Katluvr posted the link for you on raw feeding. There are a lot of experienced posters in that group and a LOT of information on raw diets  You will definitely find that forum useful while you decide what you are going to do.

To answer your question; My cats are on a 90% wet to a 10% kibble diet. I give the measured kibble between their main wet meals. I use mostly Nutro Max Cat and Nutro Natural Choice wet foods with other premium brands now and then for a variety of textures and flavors. Nutro has just released an all new Natural Choice line and all of the wet foods are grain free which I am excited about. The cats love 'em too! I have never heard of Bozita and is RC, Royal Canin? Best of luck to you in your quest for the perfect diet for you kitty

Yeah, I saw it. Just haven't had time to read through it yet as I am work at the moment. I will when I have the chance.

Oh, that sounds good. Can you purchase this from Zooplus? I've had a good loook on there and there are quite a few I'd like to try for my girls but at the price (And the way my girls wolf down their food) I can't afford it.

Nor had I to be perfectly honest with you. But then neither had I heard of zooplus or that certain wet food was bad for Cats due to grains and biscuits are too due to dehydration since coming on Pet forums. Bozita is apparently meant to be good and fairly cheap too, hence why I am grabbing some when I get paid. Yes, Royal Canin.

Thanks very much.

I currently feed a combination of homemade ground raw, freeze dried raw (Stella & Chewy's) and high animal protein/low carb canned. I would like to feed 100% prey model raw, but my cat is not following the game plan. I have to add since you're interested in raw feeding that homemade raw is cheaper than high quality canned for me.

I feed various beef and fish flavored wet foods (due to his allergies) and then raw every few days or so, depending on how much time I want to spend on making dinner that day. :p

Many of the brands mentioned, like Nutro, Wellness and EVO, aren't available in Europe. Nutro was at one time, but now you can only get their dog food.

We very recently adopted a 9-month-old with digestive problems from the shelter, and have him on an all-wet grain-free diet. I'm trying to avoid fish flavors. Most of the foods, which we also gave our RB cat, are available at zooplus:
Animonda Carny, Grau Grain-Free and the grain-free varieties of Bozita. He also gets one or two cans of Almo Nature or Applaws per week; those two brands are supplemental rather than complete foods. I haven't tried Terra Faelis, which is also grain-free.

The other brand I buy, Catz fine food, is still only available from German online suppliers. Some people on UK forums say they buy it from that site (the owner speaks English) or from amazon.de.

The Bozita Tetra Packs are obviously convenient to store and dispose of. It does contain pork, and not all cats like the consistency. Animonda Carny in the large cans is even less expensive and has a more meat-like consistency.

I kind of thought the location was outside of the US and/or Canada. Thanks for the info on the Bozita. I always love to learn about new products, even if they are not available here.

Ten years ago it was difficult to get high-quality cat food in Europe, but now there's quite a variety of grain-free and/or "human-grade" all-meat brands. Hill's, Iams and Royal Canin have always been available, but opinions are divided over whether they'd be considered "high-quality", and they're very heavy on grain.

A variety of wet food is fine. According to Google, Natural Balance is widely available in Malaysia and would certainly be better than Whiskas. One shop advertises Solid Gold. There are some brands I'm not familiar with, but there seem to be a number of online shops with a pretty good range.

Thank you so much. I will look forward it. Because this is my first time having a cat in my family. I have 3 cats before but stay with my father. So I don't know about taking care a cat,so that's why I ask. Really appreciated. Big thank.:)

I have scrapped Butchers and, at present, am feeding my girls kittecat (SP?) I looked at the back of the pack and it mentions no grains but then do they actually mention it is in the food? I don't know what else you are meant to look out for that is not good for them.

Anyway, this weekend I am going to be starting a raw diet for them (Well, once I have actually got round to reading the raw thread on what I need) I just have had no time at the moment. But definitely going to give it a whirl and see if they like it. I was told it is actually cheaper in the long run and I am sure it will at least be the same price I am paying on canned food as I am getting through far too much with my girls and that they shouldn't be eating this much. I thought it could be worms and this isn't the case. The one is nursing so I am giving her plenty of food as possible when she wants it and my other Cat isn't so bad when it comes to wanting food. She certainly doesn't want as much as Fidget does.

But, no, getting through two tins a day is not what I thought they should be eating. Fidget doesn't even put on weight (She's been like it since I had her. The vets said she is just one of those thin Cats) and it's somewhat frustrating to see her eating this much and not showing for it. Her coat has come on a lovely colour and a nice shine since switching from felix, biscuits and whiskas.

I was told raw might actually help boost her up a little. As long as she isn't underweight I am not so concerned but it would be nice to see her a little bit bigger. I have a friend who has a Cat that is over 14 and she is as small as my Cat so I presume you do get Cats that just don't put on much weight like people with low metabolisms.

The Kitekat ingredients are listed here I'd be rather sceptical of the "animal derivatives", which could mean anything, and especially the "various sugars".

I see. Thank you. Though I did not see this stated on the back of the pack when I was looking at them. I thought by law they have to tell you what is in food to pretty much every detail. Perhaps I overlooked this then. Obviously sugar is a no no with Cats, as well as grains - Do you know what else I should be looking out for?

I checked out the raw feeding section and found it somewhat difficult as I don't know where to even start looking. I went through the whole first page by title and couldn't find one thread on Raw feeding - A basic guide. I thought there would be a sticky on top of this section. I have also looked on google and only get pages where the author talks to you as if you are already following within the first sentence. You'd have to be naive to assume one would understand even the basics of raw feeding if you have never heard of it until recently nor even understand it. I don't suppose by chance you know of a good link you can send me to find for beginners? It'd be greatly appreciated.
