Who has also convinced my saint of a husband to let us rescue a young black male kitteh who chose us, no doubt.  We named him Si (after Uncle Si on Duck Dynasty).  Those who watch the show would understand, those who don't or haven't - Uncle Si not only talks a lot just like his little namesake sharing our abode; but the episode about the black panther had a lot to do with it.

I sure appreciated finding this forum all the great info & support I've read here so far.   It has been over 20yrs since I personally owned a cat, a female Siamese who lived to 14 that I adored. Although I was raised with kittehs in our family my entire life, the DH knows absolutely nothing about them.

Si has had a lot of firsts since he introduced himself March 8th during a family cookout.  Si had been running & hunting with a small pack of ferals in a local equipment yard near the campground we're staying at.  It was obvious from his brassy behavior the night we met that he was likely a dump off because he didn't fear people like the other ferals.  Dogs here, he'll walk  right up to & lay down in front of almost taunting them to play; coming inside our RV to have a look around seemed quite natural.

After mucho protest from the DH, Si actually spent the night in our RV & allowed me to baby wipe sponge bathe him a couple of times, fed a little canned tuna & water.  After grooming himself & letting me look at the bite wound on is leg (which was a borderline abcess), he allowed me to use warm compresses on it several times.  After some time in his Daddy's lap while explaining to Daddy that Si was not going to bite his face - that's how they scent mark, claim you & show affection.  Now we have Daddy asking some cat questions :D

We contacted & visited a local vet with him Monday.  He rode in the Jeep like a champ, only wild-eyed when we sat down in the seat.  The vet addressed the abcess with antibiotics & sent us home with quadritop ointment that he tolerates well.  Tuesday evening we had a puking/hair in the puke/bile with 2 worms puke so we were back to the local vet for a round of cerenia for the nausea, liquid wormer for me to administer tomorrow, and a topical ointment (VedaLax) for later use to control possible hairballs.  He's been a little lethargic today only ingesting small amounts of water, but I understand that is normal with the cerenia which is like phenergyn to humans.

Anyhow  -- I'll wrap this up this introduction with our new Road Cat Si

The afternoon we decided to keep him, lounging on his blanket.

Hi Bluebird Gal! I am new to the site, too! That is so funny that you named your cat after Si, my husband is watching Duck Dynasty on TV at this very moment! Although I have never paid attention to the show, I think it's a great name!

I am so sorry to hear about your baby's leg! I hope he is feeling better soon!

Thank you jadecat!   Too funny on Duck Dynasty.  Told my DH when we saw the original commercials, I was not getting roped into another reality TV show.  Then we saw a couple of the guys on Leno one night - we watched the next episode & are watching it right now too

Si seems to be on the mend so far.  His little paw looks soooo much better now than they day we met.  He is currently guarding the bed wondering what His sleep number is.  LOL   And I think tomorrow he will be as hungry as a panther.
