Evidently, I am not at the end of my computer woes. The DVD part of the drive works, but CDs do not work....this is the drive that we just put in. It was the same issue with the old drive....DVDs worked, CDs did not whether a music or data CD. Not sure what the heck is going on there.....I did put in a music CD when we installed the thing and it was fine then. And I give up.

I wanted to install more music from CDs to my iPod. Since my CD drive isn't working properly, I installed Chrome on Rick's computer, followed by iTunes. Then I put all the music on his computer that I wanted from our CD classic rock collection. Enabled Home Sharing on iTunes for both computers, so that I could share the music from Rick's computer to mine. Synced my iPod to the new Playlist that I created from all the music. Am charging the iPod now.

What a hassle. But I guess I got what I wanted, even though I had to go around Fernstein's barn to get there. *shaking my head* One of these days, I will have a computer without issues. Maybe.

Maybe you need to do like my brother and look in alleys on trash day.  The one I am using was "rescued" by him.

I think your computer is trying to give you a wee bit of a hard time these days!! :lol3: I don't know what I would do without Larry because my computer is always "acting up" and he does his magic and then POOF - it works great again. You sound like you know a lot about your computer - and your computer is making sure that continues to happen, you learning about "IT"!!!!!! Hopefully soon "IT" will settle down and work properly. :bigwink: :bigthumb:

I talked to my BIL last night and he doesn't understand it either. He's coming over to check it out on his way home from work tonight. I'm just so frustrated that I can't get it to work properly. And I'm really frustrated because lately, it seems that I can't do anything right to this thing. I put the drive in, but my BIL was here the whole time to make sure I did it right. It's connected OK. It runs DVDs with no trouble. I don't know why it doesn't recognize CDs, music or data.

Honestly, if the pool wasn't frozen over, I swear this thing would go for a swim!

Don't get me wrong. I know that I am blessed to have such a wonderful BIL to help me when I need help. But darn it, I don't like having to hassle him every few weeks bc something else happened. I've never had this much trouble with a computer. And it all happened within the space of just a few months. Everything was fine (or seemed to be) and then..............poof! The duck doodoo hit the fan.

It sounds like my computer. :lol3: My husband is a "computer guy". He just keeps replacing parts when something dies. My CD/DVD hasn't been working right for months either. I've tried to burn CD's, but it doesn't work. I've had to put the info out on the shared drive and use his laptop to make CD's. He fixes everyone elses computer, but mine is the last to get looked at. :lol3:
